The Senior Investment Analyst, Mutual Funds, serves in a lead role in the management of the VantageTrust Trust Series Funds, in consultation with the Mutual Funds Research Team. Requires broad and deep analysis and due diligence on the individual funds, while also ensuring that the funds as a group continue to serve the purpose of providing a diversified set of mutual funds in ICMA-RC’s standard lineup. The Senior Investment Analyst also serves as a member of the Research Team’s effort as it relates to open architecture funds. The position is also involved in the management of various projects, such as strategic initiatives, thought leadership, board reporting, compliance and other communications.
Essential functions for this role include:
• Management of Trust Series Funds
◦ Perform both qualitative and quantitative analysis on funds, utilizing state of the art analytical software tools.
◦ Perform due diligence on existing funds through meetings with senior executives of fund firms.
◦ Monitor asset managers’ adherence to objectives and investment strategies.
◦ Stay updated on the financial markets, the economy, securities in general and specific emphasis on holdings impacting the funds and their performance.
◦ Provide significant input on the hiring and termination process for funds.
◦ Develop effective relationships with and perform due diligence on prospective asset managers.
◦ Review, write, and as needed, present routine and ad hoc information on certain funds and their asset managers for different reporting needs. Examples include information for internal groups/divisions, committee meetings, board reports, clients and consultants.
• Serve as key member of the Investment Division Research Team in conducting research.
◦ Conduct research and participate in fund interviews to determine appropriateness of including funds in our Select List or for use in changing client lineups.
◦ Conduct manager research in support of developing a bench of managers for investment product created by ICMA-RC’s Investment Division.
◦ Conduct macroeconomic and market research in support of the Investment Division’s goals including but not limited to thought leadership, client communication and internal education.
• Assist in developing and implementing fund lineup changes.
◦ Conduct research to support and help determine optimal lineup structures and funds, and as instructed, implement fund changes working with asset managers and different groups within the Corporation.
• Assist in the management of various projects, such as strategic initiatives, board reporting, compliance and other communications. Activities include:
◦ Assisting in analysis or due diligence in support of the Corporation’s proprietary portfolios.
◦ Supporting marketing, sales or other communications efforts through research, analysis, written reports, “request for proposal” reviews/responses utilizing specific investment knowledge.
Requirements
If you have the following credentials, we encourage you to apply:
• MBA/MA or equivalent experience; 5-7 years of experience
• Investment experience with emphasis on portfolio analysis, preferably in the mutual fund industry; investment and economic trends; broad knowledge of all asset classes; and communication of investment-related information.

• Ability to work effectively in a team environment across division lines
• Strong analytical skills
• Effective presenter who can translate complex information into lay terms
• Demonstrated success in developing alliances and relationships
• High level of attention to detail
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively and professionally in a very fast-paced environment with often competing priorities
