Description
Zurich is looking for a Property Underwriting Area Manager for our Mid Atlantic territory. This role manages market facing underwriters and will aid them in making appropriate underwriting decisions. This position will proactively seek renewal and new opportunities, and be responsible for the performance of this office vs plan. The position will be based in our Philadelphia office and will cover as far south as Richmond, Virginia.
Key Accountabilities:
•Identifies new Property growth opportunities with select brokers for areas of responsibility
•Ensures that the accounts received are qualified; meeting the organization's appetite, and offering a strong business opportunity
•Along with assigned underwriters, make broker and/or customer calls with a planned and well-prepared purpose, including reviewing and discussing broker performance
•Manage relationships with brokers with the Property book of business, class and segment analysis to ensure profitability and growth
•Oversee negotiations of Terms & Conditions and closes deals
•Ensure cross-sell within areas of responsibility to increase product density with the accounts
•Provide continuous coaching on sales best practices and mentor staff to develop strong broker and client networks
•Monitor sales funnel and production metrics of team
•Calculate Target Price accurately by utilizing underwriting tools
•Along with Regional Manager identify market trends and coverage's exposures that may impact business results
•Work with Actuarial to insure a proper rate / price structure
•Market company products and services through brokerage community
•Support development and maintenance of agent/broker relationships to achieve profitable growth, market share, new business and account retention
•Improve customer relations, profitability and productivity by being familiar with the offices’ new business, loss ratio, expense ratio, loss frequency, agency distribution
•Review producer books of business as well as profit/growth results and trends to recommend and implement action plans
Basic Qualifications:
• High School Diploma or Equivalent and 5 or more years of experience in Property Underwriting or Market Facing area
OR
• High School Diploma or Equivalent and 10 or more years of experience in the Claims or Underwriting Support area
OR
• Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice including an Associate Degree and 3 or more years of experience in Property Underwriting or Market Facing area
OR
• Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice including an Associate Degree and 8 or more years of experience in the Claims or Underwriting Support area
AND
• Experience with Microsoft Office
Preferred Qualifications:
• Bachelors Degree
• Advanced knowledge of Property line of business
• Ability to manage and build rapport with team
• Excellent organizational, written, oral communication and presentation skills
• Advanced knowledge of the insurance industry and the legal and regulatory guidelines
• 6 months or more of supervisory or management experience
• Established Producer relationships
• Advanced skills in relationship building, active listening, needs analysis, and win-win negotiating
• Solutions and service orientation
