Director, Marketing Communications
The Retirement Services (RS) Division at OneAmerica serves medium to large employers and their employees through trusted advisors. By providing retirement plans, we help provide employers with valuable employee benefits and create a more secure retirement for their employees, helping them prepare to have their best day for the rest of their lives!
The RS Marketing Communications team assists our business by supporting our plan advisors, sponsors and participants through education, communication and branding. The Customization team within RS Marketing Communications leads our efforts in education, communication plans, relationship management and product branding for employers who offer our RS products.
The Marketing Communications Director is responsible for developing and executing creative concepts for sales tools, managing the marketing material production process and supervising the development of creative assets and content. The Marketing Communications Director is also responsible for routing materials to legal, compliance and any other applicable area to ensure content accuracy. In addition, the Marketing Communications Director works with Corporate to ensure brand standards are met and with the distribution center to secure printing, storage, inventory management and mailing.
45%: Day-to-Day Management
• Develop, coordinate, and implement special Marketing Department projects
• Oversee the development of all new marketing materials including concept development, layout, design, copyrighting, production management, and subsequent distribution and rollout launch plans.
• Manage the development process of marketing communications, including the matrix management of other department contributors to the material development process.
• Provide input into the marketing communication strategies developed and employed by the Retirement Services Division.
• Track and manage marketing communications budget items.
• Oversee the development of FINRA and SEC-approved materials for marketing registered products.
• Monitor marketing material supply levels and effectively manage this supply within department budgetary constraints.
• Provide support to the Retirement Services business unit as it strives to meet its sales and service goals.
• Accountable for marketing material development initiatives, digital marketing and material support, while working under frequently tight deadlines.
35% Build the Team
• Develop personnel, both technically and administratively.
• Manage and assess direct reports to include Performance Management Plan (PMP) reviews, along with coaching and mentoring functions.
• Ensure that direct reports clearly understand the department’s mission and goals, policies and procedures; and roles and responsibilities within the department.
• Identify and coordinate training needs while clarifying expectations to transfer new learning back on the job with employees before they attend/complete any training opportunities.
• Involve Knowledge Management and/or Performance Improvement, as needed, to assist with determining which training/learning interventions best meet the needs of employees.
• Promote teamwork and resolve conflicts in a win-win fashion.
• Create a work environment that fosters employee commitment.
20% Build and Maintain Relationships
• Resolve inquiries from internal partners, Senior Management, and outside parties.
• Understand stakeholder needs and build trusting work relationships through ongoing interaction and two-way communications.
• Build relationships and gain trust with Design, Compliance, Legal and Corporate Support teams to advance the Retirement Service division and goals.
Requirements
• Bachelors degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Communication, or other related discipline preferred.
• Required experience with marketing materials production processes and procedures. Specifically, a minimum of 8-10+ years experience in production/preparation of marketing communication materials.
• Proficiency in PowerPoint, Excel and Access software
• Working knowledge of retirement or financial service products/services preferred.
