POSITION SUMMARY:
Oversee the requirements for how TIAA’s invested assets are represented in its asset liability framework in order to support asset allocation, Fed stress-testing, option-adjusted duration and economic capital purposes.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
*Manage the Conning relationship and control the TIAA-wide use of GEMS to ensure that each economic scenario set is suitable for its intended use (60%)
*Assume ownership for business requirements related to M-STAR asset processing, providing subject matter expertise for the development of default loss, prepayment and disposition studies, and for assumptions used in the M-STAR asset models.
*Serve as resident Actuarial Services investment expert in order to ensure that projections of asset performance are realistic and fit-for-purpose (20%)

By overseeing the methodology behind the projection of TIAA’s assets in its analytic models, this job helps management formulate better decisions with respect to asset allocation, risk appetite and capital sufficiency.

Advanced knowledge of markets, models and risk determinations relevant to actual and prospective asset holdings of TIAA

Advanced knowledge and understanding of TIAA’s business and industry position
Interactions/Interpersonal Skills:
High degree of interaction at all levels within Finance, Actuarial, Risk Management and Asset Management necessitating considerable interpersonal, communication and persuasion skills.
Required:
*Strong experience with and understanding of actual and prospective asset
classes of TIAA, including real assets and private asset classes
*5-10 years of ALM and/or investment management
*BA/BS
*Proficiency with Excel and VBA
Preferred:
*Master’s Degree
*10+ years of ALM and/or investment management
*Strong analytic, communication and influencing skills
*Strong experience with and understanding of models of asset performance,
including both vendor and home-brew software
*Ability to work independently and to collaborate with others
