Description
We are currently seeking a Research and Development (R&D) Tax Manager. As an R&D Tax Manager, you will assist clients by performing research and development tax credit studies, interviewing and documenting eligible tax credits, researching and drafting technical memoranda regarding R&D and tax issues, and assisting with other projects as assigned.
Responsibilities:
• Assists in planning and running engagements
• Schedules and conducts informational gathering interviews with clients
• Obtains and organizes documentation obtained from the client
• Assists in the identification and management of Section 199, Domestic Production Deduction Projects
• Performs tax research
• Drafts technical reports and correspondence
• Assists with taxing authority audit defense
• Mentors staff and seniors
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree required; Emphasis in Accounting, Business, Construction Management or Engineering preferred
• Advanced degree or certification preferred (e.g. CPA, MST, JD, or LL.M)
• Minimum of 4 years of related experience in R&D tax credits
• Previous R&D Tax credit and Section 199 experience required
• Experience training and supervising Staff and Seniors
• Minimum of 4 years of related experience in Section 199 Deduction
• Excellent client service skills (internal and external)
• Critical thinking and problem solving skills
• Strong research ability
• Strong written and verbal communication
• Ability to work effectively both as part of a team and independently
• Ability to handle multiple priorities, tasks and simultaneous projects
• Ability to travel to client locations which may include occasional overnight stays (Travel approximately 20%)
• Ability to work overtime as needed
• Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, Outlook)
