Department Profile:
The Finance Division reports to the Chief Financial Officer and consists of some 3,000 employees worldwide. Finance protects the Morgan Stanley franchise by serving as guardian of the Firm's books and records, and by contributing to Firm-wide risk management and risk reduction. This division maintains relationships with Morgan Stanley's various industry and government regulators, and also serves as the conduit of financial information to the outside investment community. Finance plays a critical role as advisor to Morgan Stanley's various businesses and its senior management team.
The Finance Business Management Risk Governance Office is responsible for ensuring a sound governance framework is in place to meet regulatory expectations over Finance Division Business line management and compliance with regulatory risk management principles. The focus of the governance framework is to ensure Finance management executes business line activities consistent with the firm's strategy and risk tolerance, identifies and manages risk in accordance with Finance and Firm guidance, and evaluates sufficiency of resources and infrastructure to achieve business priorities.
The role will initially focus on evaluating the regulatory guidance against existing policies, procedures, documentation and monitoring activities to identify areas of compliance with the framework and where gaps exist. For gaps identified, remediation actions will be documented and tracked to ensure compliance with the framework. Once the framework is developed and implemented, the focus will shift to ensuring the framework is maintained on a continuing basis. This will include developing a continuous monitoring program.
Qualifications
-10 to 12 years of financial services experience
-Strong technical understanding of the financial services regulatory environment, with a focus on risk management practices across the following risks: Capital, Credit, Market, Liquidity, Operational, Model, Compliance and/or Reputational
-Prior experience rolling out governance over new regulatory standards
-Strong understanding of the Finance division and its processes, risks and controls
-Excellent written, communication, and presentation skills, including the ability to liaise with and influence senior subject matter experts across the Firm
-Ability to multi-task, adapt, and work well under pressure
