Overview

The Accounting Manager will lead engagements supported by Partners who will educate, train and promote a great working environment. PKF O’Connor Davies continues to grow its practice and the professionals will have room for continued advancement and promotion throughout their career.
Essential Duties
• Review write-up, bank reconciliations, payroll/sales tax and complex technical activities and conduct a self-review before submission.
• Prepare and review financial statements, consolidated statements and various other accounting statements.
• Oversees the effort of multiple client engagements and manages staff to meet deliverable deadlines within budget, identify roadblocks and understand critical milestones to meet client service expectations.
• Maintains active communication with clients and manage expectations, ensure satisfaction and lead change efforts
• Ability to prepare or review tax returns, financial statements, monthly/quarterly write-up services, engagement documentation and related reports.
• Review and verify the accuracy of journal entries and accounting classification assigned to various records.
• Ability to conduct tax research, income tax projections and prepare complex entity and individual tax returns/identify multi state tax issues
• Ability to develop new business from existing clients and through the development of client relationships.
• Oversee and supervise work of staff and senior accountants and assist/train staff as well as assist Partner in the scheduling of staff.
• Identify and communicate to management suggestions to improve client internal controls and accounting procedures.
• Assist Partner with client billings for Partner review.
• Actively participate in learning and development opportunities, formal learning (CPE) and training programs.
• Attend professional development, networking events and training seminars on a regular basis.
Qualifications
• 6+ years of experience.
• BA/BS in Accounting from an accredited college/university is required, master’s in accounting or relevant field is preferred.
• Must have prior CPA Firm experience.
• Active CPA certification.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including working knowledge of firm’s tax and accounting software and applications.
• Strong knowledge and application of GAAP standards.
• Strong knowledge of Federal and State taxation.
• Effective written, verbal and interpersonal skills.
• Able to identify roadblocks and understand critical milestones to meet client service expectations.
• Encouraged participation in civic or professional organizations, obtain a position on a Board.
