Responsibilities
The Group Head’s (GH) primary purpose is to be externally focused, helping to manage in client acquisition and credit opportunities within a subset of the Regional Office footprint, as well as ensuring the objectives related to loan and deposit growth, profitability, risk, service and team development are met.
The Commercial Group Head will be responsible for, but not limited to, the following activities:
• Responsible and accountable for supporting lenders who are focused on new strategic relationship acquisition and deepening existing relationships. Review of new deal opportunities and credit write-ups that will help achieve the growth objectives of the group.
• Spend time in each of the Regional offices developing an understanding of the activity in the markets, real estate trends and metrics, as well as meeting new prospects and existing clients.
• Manage the strategic prioritization of the pipeline to achieve Secondary Line of Business and LOB goals.
• Coordinate with Group Portfolio Managers and Asset Managers to ensure active day-to-day management of the portfolio.
• Monitor the Group’s assets by maintaining quality of portfolio by adhering to lending processes, credit policies and underwriting standards.
• Active participation in the career development and coaching of the Group as a whole. Seek and support advancement of team in a way that meets each individual’s goals and skill set.
• Maintain and develop strong relationship with internal departments (i.e. Credit, Loan Services, cross-sell partners).
• Active development and communication of CRM (Client Relationship Management) strategy to drive prospecting and relationship growth for Group. Participate in and oversee the execution of the CRM strategy.
• Provide insight to the Business Manager for business unit reviews.
• Resolve issues within Group should dispute on deal points arise.
• Uphold active market presence within the community and industry associations with the purpose of promoting CIBC and cultivating potential prospects and referral sources.
Qualifications
• Recognized management and interpersonal skills
• College Degree / Business, Finance, Accounting, Economics or Real Estate
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other technology platforms.
• Minimum of 15+ years’ experience as a Commercial Relationship Manager or other commercial banking role.
• Ability to prove expertise within a specific commercial banking industry or vertical
• Desire to actively market both CIBC and its products to potential clients.
• Formal Credit Training preferred
