JOB PURPOSE:
Reporting to the Director of the State Filings Division, the Manager leads a team of filing analysts in the preparation and submission of Commercial and Personal Property & Casualty insurance forms, rates and rules in 51 U.S. jurisdictions.
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Ensure filings are submitted to state insurance departments in accordance with company standards and all relevant legal and regulatory requirements.
• Assign filings to analysts and monitor their work to completion.
• Provide guidance and support to the business units on filing strategies and throughout the filing process, including responding to issues raised by insurance departments.
• Work with state insurance regulators regarding filings and other regulatory matters.
• Monitor Advisory Organization filings and coordinate with internal stakeholders on appropriate company action to be taken.
• Manage day-to-day activities of a team of analysts, including but not limited to attendance, training, performance review, employee development and staff meetings.
• Review and analyze state insurance department statutes, regulations, bulletins, etc. to determine impact and ensure adherence to filing and regulatory requirements.
• Interview job candidates through coordination with management team and HR.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
Technical Experience:
• A minimum of 4 - 5 years insurance industry experience strongly preferred.
• Prior experience supervising/coaching/managing a team preferred.
• Thorough knowledge of compliance and regulatory requirements developed through filing experience.
• Familiar with and proficient in all job duties of direct reports.
General Skills (minimum requirements):
• Effective management skills (time management, delegation, employee relations).
• Ability to interact and work collaboratively and constructively with others within the company and state insurance departments.
• Effective communication skills (i.e., able to make presentations to management and others on specific filings and compliance issues).
• Effective organizational skills (coordinate work flow).
• Excellent reading comprehension and analytical skills (to understand complex material and interpret it for others).
• Knowledge of the insurance industry (preferably P&C).
Education/Experience:
Bachelor's Degree preferred, or equivalent industry experience.
CPCU or other insurance designation a plus.
Systems:
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
Experience with Insurance filing tools and systems such as NILS INSource, I-File, SERFF and Rating Organizations product libraries, (i.e. AAIS, ISOnet, NCCI, Independent Bureaus, etc.) very helpful.
