This person will be a part of the group that manages financial systems and special projects within Life and Retirement (L&R) Finance.
The Project Management aspect of this group handles multiple high priority projects and tasks in an extremely fast paced, complex environment and makes independent urgent decisions. The team implements and maintains consistent and effective PM principles; monitors project quality, milestone and budget commitments; manages project expectations, scope, risk, and changes; provides issue identification & resolution; and provides work plans to manage key dependencies, resources, timelines, and key deliverables.
Your Contribution at AIG
• Participate in project teams responsible for changes to insurance administration and financial systems that impact the general ledger system
• Manage, identify and lend subject matter expertise to system support teams and project teams
• Provide guidance and organization for project resources/SMEs
• Lead project teams in requirements gathering, development, implementation, testing, cutover and post-go live cutover monitoring phases
• Serve as liaison with related L&R teams and departments to ensure dependencies are successfully addressed
• Track, document and communicate project metrics and related analysis
• Develop user acceptance test plans
• Oversee general ledger testers and confirm that system changes meet business requirements and functional specifications
• Work with Financial Systems support staff to identify updates needed to general ledger custom tables as a result of system changes
• Research root causes of production system issues as they occur and work with system support teams to resolve
• Assist business users with troubleshooting and problem solving related to financial systems
• Prepare formal presentations on project status for business & technology leadership
What is expected of this position?
• Partner with process owners, tech, data quality, data governance, and data teams to meet stakeholders needs and create or maintain standardized processes within Finance
• Manage testing and implementation project tasks to adhere to published schedules
• Ensure successful go-live implementation of projects by identifying and managing end to end testing and implementation tasks
• Communicate, collaborate and interact effectively with all levels of staff and management within Finance, operational and systems teams, on and off-site, throughout the AIG organization
• Provide excellent customer service to project stakeholders
• Adhere to robust internal controls and internal documentation requirements
• Create professional presentations and documentation for recurring project status, health, accomplishments, key issues, and next steps
What we are looking for
• Bachelor's degree and 5 - 7 years of general ledger systems and finance experience
• Approximately 5-7 years leading cross functional finance projects: PMP preferred, not required
• Financial systems expertise, preferably SAP ECC/ BW / BPC
• Strong understanding of life, health and annuity insurance products, accounting, and financial reporting
• Strong Microsoft Office skills, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Visio and Access
• Excellent analytical and problem solving skills with strong organizational skills and attention to detail
• Strong verbal and written communication skills with a customer-centric and front-line staff perspective
• Proven leadership skills with the ability to make consistent, sound and effective decisions with minimal direction and a positive outlook
• Ability to multi-task with a variety of systems and processes
• Ability to collaborate and interact effectively with all levels of staff and management, on and off-site
• Demonstrated record of consistent strong performance
