I. POSITION SUMMARY
Santander Commercial Credit Training Program (SCCTP) Trainee position is a 12-month, full-time comprehensive credit training program where graduates are placed in the Commercial and Global Corporate Banking businesses. SCCTP includes (7) weeks of formal classroom credit training followed by (10) months of continuous education and bank product and service training. Graduation from the Program will take place (12) months from the start of formal credit training and will require the SCCTP Trainee to pass all requirements including: requisite examinations, individual and group assessments during the classroom training, and all Continuous Education training. Santander’s Commercial Credit Training Program will provide rigorous, comprehensive, and strong foundational credit analysis skills required for a successful career in commercial and investment banking.
In addition to the core foundational credit analysis skills, the SCCTP will provide a thorough understanding of the Bank's global reach and capabilities, U.S. and Global Bank businesses and strategy, opportunities to interact with Executive Management, networking, and professional mentoring.
II. JOB PLACEMENT
Following the successful completion of the (7) weeks of classroom credit training and assessments, Credit Analysts will be placed in the Commercial Bank or Global Corporate Bank with continuous education and programs until graduation in June 2019.
Upon graduation of the SCCTP Program, all Credit Analysts will be placed into various roles supporting the Commercial Bank or Global Corporate Bank. Placements will be determined based upon business need.

III. JOB REQUIREMENTS & RESPONSIBILITIES
We are looking for leaders with strong analytical, communication, and teamwork skills ready to play an important role in helping deliver solutions for our clients. Analysts hired into the program will participate in a one year Santander Credit Training Program. Joining the Santander Commercial Banking Team provides a distinct competitive advantage day one with a focus on building a best-in-class foundation in credit analysis, working in an engaging and high performance culture, with the goal of building lasting loyalty with our clients. Credit analysts will have the following responsibilities:
1. Complete the Commercial Credit Training Program (SCCTP)
2. Perform credit analysis and underwriting on all new deals, renewals, maturities and modifications and verifies compliance with credit policy
3. Conduct industry and market analysis to identify issues; conducts third party verification via background, credit and due diligence
4. Assist in the preparation of valuation and capital structure analysis in conjunction with credit approvals for new and existing clients
5. Assist with legal closing process, preparing, reviewing, and validating documentation, ensuring compliance and conditions are met
6. Communicate with all deal team members including: origination, underwriting, credit risk management, monitoring, and loan closing
7. Monitor and assess client financials, collateral, loan covenants and risk ratings on a periodic basis
8. Assess and formally review client Risk through periodic Portfolio Reviews, Internal Audits, External Audits, and ad-hoc reviews
9. Continuously monitor client financials/information to ensure performance to financial plan and compliance with credit agreement
10. Prepare credit approval document and assist deal team in deal screen and approval meetings
11. Prepare customer risk rating and financial statement analysis
12. Communicate with client and Credit Officer regarding covenant exceptions
IV. QUALIFICATIONS
• Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Economics or related major; minimum 3.25 cumulative GPA preferred; graduating in May 2018
• Experience: Demonstrated work ethic and proficiency in both academics, internships, extracurricular activities, and relevant leadership positions
• Demonstrated track record in the following qualities: intellectual curiosity, commitment to excellence, burning drive to success, perseverance, resiliency, and management by fact
