Core Banking – Application Development Lead, Vice President
Job Summary
Reporting to the Director and Group Technology Manager for Integrated Services of the Americas Business IT (ISA BIT) Technology Transformation, MUFG, Union Bank, N.A. (MUB) seeks candidates as part of its ISA BIT Technology Transformation division specifically within the Application Development workstream of the Core Banking Transformation Project at MUB.
Major Responsibilities
Strategy and Planning
• Will manage major application development responsibilities within the development team members reporting directly to this role, or through their managers within the Technology Transformation function
• Detail estimates and implementation plan for Application Development deliverables
• Review and track progress per the defined plan
Architecture & Design
• Provide technology thought leadership and lead delivery of key technology and development architecture components to support business data conversion capabilities
• Partner and collaborate with Data & Conversion teams, Enterprise Architecture, Technology implementation and Infrastructure Services teams to understand and review dependencies and align implementation plans and designs
Team Management
• Manage technical work teams
• Manage suppliers, contractors and vendor partner resources
Implementation / Delivery
• Own technical solution design and delivery any application and integration components
• Assist the vendor and system integration partners through designing, configuration, testing, deploying, maintaining, and supporting data conversion initiative
• Serve as the liaison with the rest of the workstreams and provide support with development activities addressing integration requirements
• Work closely deployment, testing and infrastructure teams in the preparation of all technical aspects of the SDLC
Qualifications
• B.A., or M.A., in Computer Science, or Software Engineering, or close equivalent.
• Minimum of 8+ years of experience in software development and management with at least 5 years of financial services experience, or closely equivalent non-Financial Services Industry.
• Possess prior experience in a providing technology leadership capacity in medium to large scale Transformation Programs.
• Exceptional Core consulting skills
• 3-5+ years of application development experience within the financial services industry in particular on programs or projects to replace or upgrade core banking systems such as retail and commercial deposits, loans, or credit cards.
• Must have experience leading project teams through all phases of the technology implementation lifecycle (requirements gathering, design, build, go-live, testing)
• Experienced with owning project budget, risk, resources, staffing
• Experienced in multiple facets of the software development life-cycle in a range of methodologies (Agile, Scrum, Waterfall, etc.), focused on either requirements definition, systems analysis or functional design
• 2-3 years of experience working within complex legacy systems environments within the financial services industry.
