At CoBank, our Senior Financial Reporting Accountant prepares financial reports and analysis for shareholders, regulator, and other agencies, assuring compliance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), regulatory requirements, and financial reporting best practices. Performs technical system administration and data steward functions to support the financial reporting processes and deliverables. Performs special projects for management. Performs system testing, process testing, and implementation work for change management initiatives.
Basic Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or relevant discipline.
• Minimum 6 years of financial reporting and/or financial analysis experience, preferably in finance or banking industry; or appropriate combination of education and experience.
Preferred Qualifications
• Knowledge of financial reporting systems and experience with combined and/or consolidated financial reporting environments including multiple data sources. Specific experience with Hyperion is required. CPA preferred.
• Knowledge of GAAP accounting and regulatory concepts.
• Knowledge of Big Four Groups.
• Knowledge of financial reporting and appropriate skills in financial analysis, technical writing and reporting.
• Advanced technical skills in performing in system administration functions, complex financial analysis, and querying data within databases and/or spreadsheets are required. Comfortable working with large data sets from multiple data sources.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
• Ability to work additional hours to meet periodic workload peaks and complete assignments in accordance with established deadlines.
• Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with all levels of management, staff within the bank, and external parties.
• Ability to effectively research and compile data from financial reporting systems, databases, spreadsheets, and other data sources.
• Excellent problem solving and decision-making skills.
