SUMMARY
Assists the Commercial Lines Producer in placing new commercial accounts with markets and services clients; reviews and compares quotes and negotiates terms; provides prompt, accurate, courteous service to customers, producers and company personnel; and serves as a subject matter expert on available coverages.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
• Determines the markets best suited for new accounts by gathering underwriting information, analyzing and assessing insurance needs, and preparing submissions to insure that accurate policies are issued to the client by working both in conjunction with the Commercial Lines Producer and independently.
• Reviews and compares insurance quotes received from markets and services clients and negotiates with clients and/or underwriters to ensure accurate and proper coverage with the best possible terms.
• Serves as the subject matter expert on available coverages by providing training and guidance to new Commercial Lines Producers, Commercial Lines Account Executives, and Account Managers.
• Presents proposals to the client for new business and makes sure premiums are collected and coverage is bound per company underwriting guidelines by working in conjunction with the producer and independently.
• Provides back-up assistance in the setup, renewal, marketing, booking and maintenance of customer accounts.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
• Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Management, or related field preferred; or must have equivalent experience.
• Must have at least five to six (5 - 6) years of Commercial lines insurance experience in customer service or underwriting.
• Must have a proficient working knowledge of insurance forms, coverage and rating.
• Must have the demonstrated ability to negotiate and place accounts through independent actions and broker instructions.
• Must have a working knowledge of PC’s and related applications.
• Must have an advanced working knowledge of MS Word and Excel.
• Must be able to type a minimum of 45 wpm accurately and operate a calculator.
• Must have excellent negotiation, analytical and problem resolution skills.
• Must have strong interpersonal, communication (both written and oral), and presentation skills.
• Must have excellent organizational skills with the ability to direct work priorities with minimal direction.
• Must be able to work under sometimes stressful conditions, while maintaining professionalism and enthusiasm.
• Must possess a P&C and Surplus Lines license.
• Professional designations (CIC, CRM or CPCU) strongly preferred.
• Must be able to lift 10 – 20 lbs. of insurance manuals, reports, or other documentation.
• Must be able to stoop, kneel, and sit for long periods of time.
• Must be able to travel to prospective customers and to attend classes and seminars for continuing education.
