Overview of the Role
The position directly supports the investment research process through a broad range of general responsibilities including: data gathering/analysis, database maintenance, model development/maintenance and financial analytics. Working under the general direction of research analysts and other research associates, this position conducts detailed searches and analysis to collect data, while compiling and preparing the data for further analysis.
Duties and Responsibilities
• Research work on key leverage points of companies; including conversations with industry experts
• Maintains, tracks and analyzes data/metrics on specific companies, industries and economic data
• Creates and maintains industry surveys and checks
• Initiates and expands projects to enhance the research process
• Independently exercises discretion in expanding assigned projects to enhance the quantity and quality of data.
• Collects data from various sources and consolidates the information used in investment analysis
• Conducts various electronic and phone surveys, probing for details as necessary - utilizes various investigative techniques to formulate and anticipate follow-up questions
• Oversees and subject matter expert on applications that are used in data collection and survey administration
• Maintains and updates detailed financial models
• Participates in team meetings and general investment team meetings.

Technical Skills and Qualifications
• Strong interpersonal and investigative skills, including the ability to probe for detail
• Multitasking and organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and organize multiple projects in a dynamic environment
• Strong rapport building skills
• Tenacious and persistent in gathering information
• Advanced computer skills with the ability to learn new software. MS Excel experience required. Charting and VBA experience a plus.
• Ability to analyze financial data with the ability to accumulate, organize and assimilate large amounts of information
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to work and make decisions independently
• Creative self-starter
• Bloomberg and/or FactSet experience
• Must have experience working in the investment industry
• Must be able to demonstrate a strong interest in investing
• Needs to have experience in researching investments
• Four-year college degree required
• Progress towards the CFA preferred
Ongoing competence in the role to be assessed by:
• Annual Performance Appraisal
• Completion of all assigned Compliance training
Working Environment/Physical Activities
• Overtime may be required on short notice and may include weekend/evening/holiday hours
• Occasional travel may be required
• PC usage up to 100% of the time
