As part of the Regional Chief Operating Office, the Head of Transformation is responsible for supporting the Regional COO and Business Heads in managing the transformation and change agenda and delivering key projects to support the business development.
• Manage strategic reviews of operating and potential businesses within Global Markets
• Lead a portfolio of strategic initiatives for Global Markets, e.g. Emerging markets and /or Solutions
• Support and monitor strategy execution of key initiatives
• Support Business Development activities to the Head of Global Markets
• Support business transformation as required
• Develop a detailed understanding of Global Markets operating issues and collaboration with other businesses
• Ensure effective sharing of information and best practices across Global Markets
Impact on the Business
Enable Global Markets to deliver on
• The growth agenda for the region (Latin America, US and Canada)
• The business model changes required as a result of infrastructure and financial regulation
• The F2B transformation agenda resulting from the above 2 points, the Global Markets cost programme and any other initiatives
• Performing business reviews, launch initiatives as driven by Americas and Global GM Management
• Develops strategic initiatives across Global Markets
Customers / Stakeholders
• Working day-to-day with the Americas management team and front-to-back with all support and global functions
• Engaging globally within the global head of business development, asset classes and sales groups.
Leadership & Teamwork
• Leading the governance across the portfolio of business initiatives in the region
• Primary business liaison for regional IT Management and Project Portfolio Management
Operational Effectiveness & Control
• Enhance the operational effectiveness of the business by providing a smooth, compliant environment for business to run.
• Listen to opinions from back office and front line to improve efficiencies.
Major Challenges
• Balance the pace of business change and system development to ensure that back offices support
• Need to balance the need from business and the adaptability of the infrastructure.
Work with back office colleagues and system development to match the business.
Role Context
• The role reports to the Regional COO for Global Markets Americas.
• The role is a truly regional role covering all sites within the respective region in which Global Markets business is conducted. Whilst the individual will be based primarily in the primary hub center, they will be expected to spend time in and work closely with the other sites in the region as required.
Management of Risk
• Is aware of the Operational Risk scenario associated with the role and acts in a manner that takes account of operational risk considerations.
Observation of Internal Controls
• Maintains HSBC internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators.
• Understands, follows and demonstrates compliance with all relevant internal and external rules, regulations and procedures that apply to the conduct of the business in which the jobholder is involved, specifically Internal Controls and any Compliance policy including, inter alia, the Group Compliance policy.
Qualifications
• In-depth understanding of the Global Markets business cross asset classes and its front-to-back operation
• Strong understanding of the new Financial Management framework
• Successful change management background
• Proven personal leadership capability, ability to mobilize at all levels of the organisation and leverage all relevant resources beyond reporting lines
• At least 8 – 10 years of working experience is required
