Position Description:
PIMCO is searching for a Business Analyst to add to our Technology team. Our team develops and enhances applications used globally by Account and Portfolio Management teams. You will assist in the design, construction and enhancement of PIMCO applications. portfolio risk and big data historical data warehouse project. Candidate needs to be energetic, willing to learn and be hands on to get the project completed.
Liaise with the Portfolio Management, Financial Engineering, and other teams regarding PIMCO’s proprietary portfolio management applications.
• Analyze new report and enhancement requirements and communicate with software developers while facilitating the development process.
• Respond to Investment Professionals’ questions/requests for explanation of financial reports
• Identify root source of the data questioned by investigating the calculations of financial data such as risk exposure, performance and other statistics.
• Provide some functional assistance to end users with understanding of PIMCO’s reports, data, tools, and programs
Position Requirements
The ability to work and communicate well – both verbally and in writing – with experienced portfolio managers and other investment professionals
• Two to three years of experience in the investment management industry
• A working knowledge of fixed income securities and various derivatives instruments, and an understanding of the markets in which they trade
• Strong research and analytical skills
• Strong interpersonal skills and a demonstrated ability to forge relationships with persons at all levels of an organization
• The willingness to be proactive about recognizing potential improvements or impending problems
• Data analysis experience - strong SQL database querying skill, an understanding of database design, and advanced Excel
• Prior technical experience (e.g. software application design, testing, some development) is a plus
