As a member of Santander’s retail banking division you’ll help serve Santander’s retail and small business customers as part of one of the top banks in the United States based on deposits. With principal presence in the northeast U.S., Santander’s retail division offers consumer and lending products to help our customers reach their financial goals. Santander currently serves nearly 2 million retail customers and 5.2% of the 2.7 million small businesses in the US footprint have a transactional account with Santander Bank.
The Financial Consultant Associate (FCA) role is for those less experienced and in the beginning stages of their career but eager to progress to a full-fledged Financial Consultant (FC) role at Santander Bank. The (FCA) will be expected to learn and train in conjunction with tenured FCs and under management of their Market Director (MD) and Supervisory Director (SD). In addition, the FCA will be required to attend the firm’s Investment training as well as utilize all additional learning and training tools that will be provided by the firm. All training provided will assist the FCA in further learning how to identify needs, understand client objectives, and make appropriate investment/insurance recommendations consistent with compliance standards.
Depending on level of experience and performance demonstrated, as a Financial Consultant Associate your role could vary from partnering with a veteran Financial Consultant to serve our customers in a joint effort to achieve sales results and long-term client satisfaction, to providing clients with financial advice consistent with client goals and risk tolerance on your own. As an FCA you will work to retain and increase existing client accounts and cultivate new clients over time. The FCA will gain more responsibility as experience increases and will transition from client service to relationship management and ownership. In addition, the FCA will partner closely with Branch partners in particular actively mentoring and coaching Licensed Bankers as assigned and attending and participating Branch meetings as required. FCA candidates must be able to demonstrate a superior record of achievement while maintaining high ethical standards.
PRIMARY DUTIES:
• Attend and understand how to participate/lead in Jumpstarts, sales meetings, training initiatives, and planning sessions related to the development and growth of the program
• Learn and understand how to create strong internal and external relationships in an effort to develop referral sources and meet appointment objectives.
• Sit in with tenured FC on client appointments, seminars & branch training in an effort to secure long-term client relationships & provide leadership to internal business partners
• Maintain compliance with all applicable bank, broker/dealer, State and Federal regulations associated with the sale of investment and insurance products including Santander Policy Statement governing the sale of uninsured products.
• Maintain required professional training and license requirements, including knowledge of FINRA compliance, FDIC compliance, the Bank's uninsured Products Policy Statement, NDIP and all applicable state and federal regulations.
• Provide active mentoring and coaching to all Licensed Bank (LBs) assigned within your branch territory.
• When appropriate, provide leads to branch personnel to help assist customers with other bank product needs.
Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s Degree or Equivalent
Licenses/Certifications: Series 7, 65/66 & Insurance Licenses
Technical Qualifications & Skills: Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word), NetX (Pershing) a plus but not required
IDEAL CANDIDATES:
• Have between 1 and 3 Years’ Experience providing investment guidance and advice to clients.
• Successful sales experience a plus
• Have the ability to create long-term relationships with clients by building trust through providing superior service
• Desire to help others achieve financial balance
• Are motivated to learn about the securities industry
• Are coachable and trainable
• Have the ability to thrive working independently and as a part of a team
• Display effective listening and communication skills
• Are comfortable engaging in conversations with clients to identify needs and offer solutions
• Are able to multitask while making accurate judgment decisions in an efficient manner
• Are extremely detail oriented with attention to accuracy
• Have strong organizational and time management skills
• Degrees such as an MBA, CFP, CHLU or CHFC preferred but not required
