Description
Leveraging exceptionally strong relationship skills, banking acumen and collaboration, the Business Technology Director is responsible for the development, execution and support of technology-enabled business solutions.
Through collaborating with key stakeholders, the Director will establish current and long-range strategies and delivery activities for the Business Technology Product Development and Support division aimed at keeping the organization at the forefront of changing digital customer and employee expectations. In addition, this role will consult with functional management on short and long-range business requirements and product roadmaps. As a key change agent, the Director will lead a large organization that combines a software engineering mindset with a collaborative focus to align banking business technology solutions with business strategy and roadmaps.
Functions of key responsibility include application and data ecosystems, digital systems and capabilities, and testing/quality engineering. A successful incumbent will excel in high pressure situations while supporting 24x7 production resiliency; as well as to delivering time and cost bound new functionality. This executive level role will continue to evolve with business and technology developments and responsibilities will include software development, implementation, and production support according to company risk appetite, policy, and standards. As a critical influencer of transformation and change, a successful Director must create an environment supporting innovation, mutual respect and inclusion, high performance, and employee career progression. All work is grounded in Operational Excellence including performance measurements/scorecards demonstrating effective cost management, simplifying the environment, growing the business, employee and customer satisfaction, and smart risk management.
Qualifications
• Exceptional at building strategic working and collaborative relationships with executive stakeholders, peers, and team members.
• Demonstrated ability to navigate complex organizational structures and establish high performing relationships at all levels across functions and businesses.
• Demonstrated leadership in driving a lean agile transformation.
• Proven track record of successful delivery and integration of large scale product and transformational initiatives.
• Proven ability to combine business acumen with strong IT technical skills to deliver customer centric solutions while managing appropriate investments, risks, resources and optimal outcomes.
• Has advanced experience managing complex initiatives, large scale organizations with sizeable number of employees including virtual (350+), critical vendor relationships including off shore vendors, and large budgets (over $70 million).
• Advanced knowledge of software quality engineering for design and development that supports architectural standards.
• Advanced understanding of complex application ecosystems including data flows, integration services, and supporting infrastructure services.
• Known for leading with humility, mutual respect, and curiosity.
• Removes seemingly large obstacles outside of one’s immediate area of influence with speed and sound judgement.
• Bachelors Degree in information systems, engineering, computer science, data disciplines or related fields.
• Preferred cross disciplinary education in technology and business disciplines, including Masters in finance, business, or economics.
• 10+ years senior leadership experience with a combination of technology (software engineering, application development/support) and product/operations/project management experience in the banking industry.
