POSITION SUMMARY:
Responsible for planning, development and implementation of the Bank’s external and internal communication strategies, including media relations, crisis and issues management, public and civic affairs, colleague communications and corporate social responsibility. Directs the efforts of the corporate communications team in the strategic development and tactical execution to ensure the timely and effective implementation of integrated communications to support corporate and business priorities. This position reports to the Chief Marketing and Communications Officer.
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Responsible for creating, implementing and measuring a comprehensive corporate communications strategy that will enhance the bank’s reputation and position in the marketplace for both external audiences and internal colleagues
• Develop and implement media relations strategy and plan developing an editorial brand and message map, outreach strategy, media training for key executives and metrics to measure success criteria
• As part of the crisis and issues management team, develop and implement a proactive strategy and plan to address external and internal communications needs in response to a variety of potential scenarios.
• Develop and implement a public affairs strategy and plan
• Evaluate state of the bank’s colleague communications strategies, plans, systems and processes and the understanding of their connection to corporate plans/objectives. In conjunction with the CMO, CEO and COO, lead efforts to assure close alignment.
• Develop, coordinate and oversee programs, technical assistance/resource materials, and provide counsel to assist LOBs in communications and positioning of their activities both internally and externally.
• Create outreach plans for business operations, e.g. strategic initiatives, hires and/or senior level promotions and market expansions.
• Plan and develop proposals / opportunities for speaking engagement for Executive Management Team ties to corporate strategy.
• Work with Human Resources to create strategies to increase colleague awareness, promote productivity, and provide Managers with appropriate tools to assist them in communicating effectively. Support HR in their colleague communications where requested.
• Keep informed of developments in the field of communications and use this information to help the bank operate with initiative and innovation.
• Responsible for facilitation of external client events.
• Lead efforts around corporate social responsibility and track progress to highlight, including community outreach/volunteerism, environmental sustainability and philanthropy.
• Recommend goals and objectives to EMC. Develop short and long-term plans and budgets for communications strategies, plans and tactics, and monitor progress and evaluate performance.
• Keep informed of developments in the field of public relations and use this information to help the bank continue to operate in a high functioning market leading manner

Requirements
REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:
• Bachelor’s Degree required, MBA desired
• 10+ years of experience in Marketing and Communications, with 6+ of Corporate Communications experience
• 5+ years of management experience
• Strong industry relations with extensive media and key industry contacts
• Ability to be a strong leader, decision-maker and problem-solver
• Strategic and analytical thinker, autonomous in handling issues that arise
