Mandate / Marketability
Director, Analytics Implementation/Model Risk Technology Officer Enterprise Risk Technology is responsible for leading all aspects of the planning, development, implementation of analytical implementation and integration for Enterprise Risk Technology. This includes establishing with Technology and Operations standards, processes, procedures aligning to best practices in the development, maintenance and management of analytics to support Enterprise Risk and Portfolio Management (ERPM). The analytics implemented and managed will be fit for purpose for management as well as for regulatory demand. This role involves managing a global team, establishment of standards, procedures and management of the underlying software to be used in a complex web of systems, processes and data collection/aggregation strategies for ERPM and will report on KPIs of the quality of the management information and system health. Overall the individual will work with all stakeholders (Front Office, Enterprise Risk (i.e. Market, Credit and Operational Risk), Risk Models, Model Validation, and Technology) to advance necessary service levels to deliver on business needs. The Director of Analytics Implementation will champion model management best practices. In addition, the Director outlines the software development strategy for all applications of the application architecture. He/she ensures that the analytics implemented adheres to and aligns to the overall systems standards and architecture planning, design and integration strategies, and communicates and interprets technology direction to personnel across the business community and Technology and Operations (T&O)
Key Accountabilities
• Manage a team that designs, develops, troubleshoots and debugs analytical implementations and tools to support ERPM.
• Establish and implement software management best practices including continuous integration and testing in order to increase efficiency, effectiveness and reusability of software used in applications to support ERPM
• Establish and implement model management best practices including continuous integration and testing in order to increase efficiency, effectiveness and reusability of analytics used in applications to support ERPM
• Work closely with various Risk Stripe owners from Risk Technology to understand emerging requirements/initiatives, their scope, priorities and detailed requirements
• Work closely with Risk Architecture function to put-together end-to-end solution architecture for key initiatives
• Develop detailed design documentation in alignment with Solution architecture and high-level design
• Develop detailed data contracts for respective functions to ensure that data interface between components of the architecture are clearly agreed to and data quality, integrity, completeness and other similar concerns are clearly addressed
• Oversee delivery of (calculation/aggregation/reporting) services per needs of various initiatives, in alignment with overall solution architecture, design and other tiers of the architecture
• Collaborate with Operations teams to ensure that there is adequate instrumentation for monitoring, automation and management of various services that are delivered to the business
• Apply your knowledge of software architecture to manage software development tasks associated with developing, debugging or designing software applications according to provided design specifications. Build enhancements within an existing software architecture and suggest improvements to the architecture.
• Manages and controls activities in multi-functional areas of Enterprise Risk Technology. Ensures appropriate operational planning is effectively executed to meet corporate specifications..
• Researches, monitors, and communicates business and technology trends, as well as competitors’ use of technology, to the Technology Head, executives in T&O, and business units in order to update them about technology trends related to the LOB
• Collaborates with Lead Technology Officers, Senior Technical Officers and other BTSs and provides sizing details (e.g., cost and benefits) of technology solutions to the business partner, including investment plan input, to aid the development of future LOB initiatives
• Provides technical guidance and counsel to project teams and strategic guidance to technical staff in the LOB to ensure alignment to business and Information Technology (IT) strategies, as well as enterprise architecture
• Leads discussions in various review and governance bodies that results in decisions as it relates to technology solutions and represents the LOB and/or the Enterprise at industry and external organizations to exchange information with industry professionals
Projects
• Ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget and with quality (i.e. as per requirements with no defects post implementation)

• Provide managerial leadership to employees including translating and creating shared understanding of goals, priorities and actions required, development of employees, and establishing a high performance culture and work environment including managing performance and talent in order to create and maintain a high performing team.

• Develop and manage budget processes within bank policy, guidelines, and annual objectives and report against plan and manage within NIX parameters
Authorities
• Authority to sign off on design and architecture of analytics to be used in applications to support analytics and reporting capabilities for ERPM
• Decision Making: authority to define and communicate the strategic direction for model management and implementation
• Managerial: authority to deploy resources (physical, financial & human) as appropriate to meet business goals and objectives.

Qualifications
Knowledge & Skills
• Graduate degree in Finance, Business or quantitative discipline accompanied by a relevant professional designation (e.g. FRM, CA, MBA, CFA).
• 15+ years experience developing high-performance, high-availability analytic applications used for decision making purposes.
• Strong understanding of analytical solutions used within Risk Management
• In-depth knowledge of the risk characteristics of the banking business, including credit, market, operational and liquidity risk concepts. Demonstrated leadership and people management skills. Strong communication skills, analytical skills, thorough understanding of product development
• Demonstrates ability to effectively lead cross-functional projects or operations with proven track record of driving results despite competing priorities and short time frames.
• Able to build effective relationships and impact and influence key stakeholders
• Displays expert coordination capability and handles conflict resolution professionally
• Exhibits consistent flexibility, resilience and resourcefulness
• Detail oriented with ability to work in a dynamic environment and undertake, execute and deliver on time multiple concurrent projects against tight deadlines.

• Solid understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and Capability Maturity Model Integration (CMMI), including project management and requirements management methodologies
• Is experienced in leading global development teams and task forces
• Is experienced in dealing with senior executives in business and T&O.
• Strong knowledge of Windows/Linux/Unix fundamentals.
• Excellent API programming skills preferably in Java/Scala /C++/C#/Python, Java, , SAS, Matlab and R or equivalent
• Strong knowledge of operating systems, databases, and distributed systems fundamentals.
• Experience with build automation, continuous integration / continuous deployment tools.
• Strong troubleshooting and performance tuning skills.
Working Conditions
• Works in a normal office environment.
• Has limited exposures to risk or ill health, however may have periods of moderate to high levels of stress.
