The Mortgage Credit Risk Analysis Manager position serves as a lead analyst based on proven skills and is responsible for managing the on and off balance sheet portfolios to ensure credit policies meet established risk/reward thresholds and that guidelines correctly represent the credit policy position. Partners with stakeholders to ensure policies/processes reflect and support products and policy. Acts as the SME to department partners and through training and coaching of other analysts. Creates and is accountable for the accuracy of reporting and analytics in support of various levels of customers through collaboration with business partners, mortgage management, and department stakeholders. Ensures that changes and updates are completed via governance and end policy/guides and contracts reflect the accurate approved credit policy decisions. Additionally responsible for managing more complex data and risk analytics for higher risk channels that in scale tend to be project related. May manage direct and/or indirect staff.
PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Responsible for analysis and validation of credit policy in an effort to manage and mitigate risk of the mortgage portfolios. Responsible for working with business channel partners to create robust reporting and analytics in support of credit policy, lending, fulfillment and corporate support operations, servicing, and credit risk assessments. Presenting analytical results at regular business review and risk meetings. Management of more complex risk analysis projects proactively and resulting from data, credit analysis, and new or emerging risks.
2. Actively creating reports that monitor and communicate performance of the mortgage portfolios. Responsible for performance tracking, vintage analysis, and policy exception reporting.
3. Accountable for providing empirically derived analyses of portfolio performance. Responsible for recommending performance for product management by incorporating loan performance, benchmarking, and loss expectations and other key drivers such as activation, utilization, and attrition. Serves as the a department lead and trains and coaches other analysts to provide consistent knowledge base and data quality.
4. Responsible for recommending changes to credit policy and underwriting guidelines based on statistical and credit analysis of portfolio performance in an effort to manage and mitigate risk.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and ABILITIES:
• 5 years subject matter expertise of credit policy including the ability to interpret policy documents
• Knowledge of Commercial Credit Underwriting and Policy
• Knowledge of underwriting options and the use of various credit risk tools
• Must have the ability to develop strong interpersonal alliances at appropriate levels, both within and outside the organization
• Must exhibit teamwork and demonstrates accuracy and completeness
• Must be able to translates plans/policies into specific goals, tactics, action plans and deliverables
• Must be able to influence and negotiate with key stakeholders
• Excellent interpersonal skills, including oral and written communication skills
• Possess good judgment, leadership, and business skills
• Possess critical thinking and analysis skills
• Ability to develop key position documents
• Working knowledge of Power Point/Excel/Word/SharePoint
• Strong working knowledge of various reporting and analytic tools and ability to manage multiple databases is preferred
This level of knowledge is normally acquired through completion of a Bachelors Degree and 7 -10 years equivalent Mortgage Risk work experience; or 13 -16 years of equivalent work related experience.
