We are currently looking for a Model Risk and Actuarial Controls Specialist to join the Actuarial Team.
• You will be supporting all aspects of the Actuarial Team’s internal control and compliance programs, including SOX, Internal Audits, ERM operational reviews, model controls development and Model Governance support.
• Use Actuarial experience to assist in model validation and systems knowledge to expand central document repository / library & departmental communications.
Performance Objectives:
• Assist actuarial team in the design of internal controls for highly complex and judgmental areas to ensure CAVR (completeness, accuracy, validity and restricted access).
• Aid in the preparation of high quality process and controls documentation, including flow charts, narratives and control descriptions.
• Coordinate with business unit actuaries to develop remediation steps and timetables for resolution of known control deficiencies.
• Coordinate with business unit actuaries to identify opportunities for strengthening control processes and then to further develop targeted controls.
• Assist in the review and validation of Model Development Documents for Model Governance support.
• Support business unit actuaries in remaining compliant with AIG Model Governance Policy.
• Identify cost savings, problem prevention, or other process improvements, as applicable. Specifically, be able to work with database systems and IT staff on next generation automated controls including Microsoft’s Power BI reporting.
• Support L&R Actuarial’s part of AIG’s Business Continuity efforts, using Archer™, Visio™ or database systems.
• Support the consolidation of Actuarial Controls and Actuarial Documentation from numerous actuarial sources
• Expand central document repository / library & departmental communications.
• Work with different departments including IT, SharePoint™ for MARS and Confluence ™ for consolidation of data.
The Ideal Candidate Will Have
• Bachelors’ degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Business or Computer Science.
• ASA designation is preferred, near ASA will be considered.
• 1 to 2 years of actuarial modeling experience on any actuarial platform.
• 1+ years of model risk governance and actuarial controls experience preferred.
• Excellent organizational skills with the ability to work independently.
• Excellent communication, analytical and decision making skills.
• Working knowledge of STAT, GAAP and TAX insurance concepts.
• Working knowledge of Life and Retirement Insurance Products.
• Proficient in use of computer software tools including Word, Excel, MS Access, MS SQL
• Knowledge of Visio™ flowcharting, Confluence™ (Wiki), SharePoint™ and Power BI ™, helpful.
• Ability to translate broad managerial directions into a detailed work plan.
