Our Specialty Finance department is seeking a Lead Financial Analyst to join our growing team in our Worcester, MA office.
Position Summary:
Working in a business-interfacing finance role, providing financial analysis and consultative support to the +$1B Specialty Lines segment at The Hanover. Researches variances and identifies emerging trends with the business; presents findings to Management.
Job Responsibilities:
• Analysis & Interpretation - Analyze financial information to determine present and future financial performance
• Planning & Forecasting – Coordinate annual financial planning cycle with business partners. Identifies trends and recommend improvements accordingly.
• Monthly Reporting – Coordinate monthly close process and financial reporting requirements. Act as liaison with Corporate Accounting.
• Evaluate profit plans, operating records, and financial statements
• Makes recommendations to management regarding cost saving or profit generating opportunities and profitability improvement strategies
• Coordinates with all levels of management to gather, analyze, summarize, and prepare recommendations regarding financial plans, acquisition activity, new business planning, trended future requirements, government requirements, and operating forecasts.
• Project Management – Responsible for individual projects from initiation through completion
This is a Full-time, Exempt role.
Position Requirements:
• 6-8+ years of related experience in finance/accounting positions
• Prior financial reporting and planning experience preferred
• Possesses and applies knowledge of financial analysis principles and practices
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Able to handle competing priorities simultaneously
• Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Access) required
• Oracle Hyperion/IBM experience strongly preferred
• Advanced degree or CPA preferred
• P&C insurance experience not required, but preferred
