Job Purpose
The Financial Accountant II, JNLD will assist with the review and preparation of ledger accounts and expense analysis, with a focus on items related to Jackson National Life Distributors (“JNLD”). The Financial Accountant II, JNLD will be responsible for additional analysis and reporting on specific expense items, to ensure proper presentation and classification in the consolidated and subsidiary financial statements as well as supporting JNLD management on special projects and preparation of reports for senior management.
Essential Job Duties & Responsibilities
• Prepares the monthly accrual and prepaid file, to support the journal entries required for the financial statements.
• Prepares monthly journal entries for the internal financial statements.
• Coordinates with JNLD associates to ensure appropriate journal entries and classification for relevant expenses, including tracking against company-level and territory-level budgets and targets.
• Researches and responds to inquiries from JNLD regarding expense classifications and budget variances.
• Prepares and distributes monthly Acquisition Cost Report (ACR) reports.
• Prepares periodic reports and analyzes expense items, as deemed necessary.
• Tracks monthly marketing chargebacks, CRD licensing, and promotional items.
• Assists in gathering information required for Marketing Allowance Payment accruals, settlement, and analysis.
• Completes property tax filings.
• Responsible for fixed asset accounting.

Qualifications
Job Requirements (Knowledge, Skills & Abilities)
• Strong PC skills; especially Excel
• Must be flexible, deadline-focused, and have the ability to prioritize and simultaneously oversee multiple tasks.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to communicate with associates at all levels within and outside the organization.
• Excellent organizational skills, independent thought, strong problem-solving skills, and attention to detail.
• Ability to work both independently and in a team environment.
Education and Experience Required
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required, CPA or CMA preferred.
• 2-4 years of previous accounting and/or financial reporting experience required.
• Insurance or financial services experience preferred.
