POSITION SUMMARY:
This position will report to the Senior Manager, Business Manager of Operation Mgmt. Services for Finance & Actuarial division (F&A) at TIAA. The incumbent for this position will be primarily focused on serving as the business continuity leader for F&A. In addition, the incumbent will work with the entire O&MS Strategy, Planning, Data Governance, and Business Integration Team on proactive business planning, driving process improvement, managing multiple projects, and communications.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
Manages the Business Continuity Program for F&A which includes: business impact analyses (BIA), resiliency risk assessments, business continuity plan development, plan maintenance, quality assurance reviews, attestation management, business continuity plan and incident management testing, supplier continuity, and LOB specific resiliency metrics/ reporting
• SME of business continuity and crisis management concepts and risk management operations.
• Develops BC/CM exercise scenarios and supporting materials and facilitates LOB specific BC/CM testing.
• Ensures LOB compliance with CBC requirements, standards, policies, processes and procedures
• Influences across the enterprise without direct management authority.
*Support the development of programs that help drive OMS & F&A strategic priorities
*Actively involved in generating ideas for new and improved communications, processes, procedures and/or programs.
*Apply best practices to ensure integrity, sustainability, and repeatability of work product
*Leverage strong organizational skills to exchange complex information.
*Effectively apply a degree of tact and diplomacy when dealing with others and handling sensitive issues and diverse audiences.
*Effectively engage SMEs to understand complex processes and data structures
Problem Solving:
First Line of Defense for making key decisions from minor, up to catastrophic business interruptions, for response and recovery of the business. Identify and mitigate risks to make sure Finance & Actuarial maintains compliance with corporate, regulators, and internal & external audit requirements. Defines the viable response and recovery strategies in alignment with the Finance & Actuarial and enterprise risk appetite.
Exceptional verbal and written communication skills are required with demonstrated ability to effectively present and interact with senior leaders. Advanced skill with business continuity systems (i.e. Archer eGRC, Everbridge Notification, NC4), business impact analysis, risk assessment, plan development, testing, crisis management, and supplier continuity is desired. Must be able analyze and make recommendations to resolve issues that have the potential to jeopardize area controls, regulatory compliance, and process flow while maintaining composure and clarity of thought during periods of high stress.
Looks beyond symptoms to identify causes of problems and potential trends. Develops and assists in implementing initiatives on process/workflow improvements and program/policy changes. Provides guidance to less experienced analysts. Project management skills, including assessing business needs, writing project plans, developing specifications, validating data, tracking and resolving issues, etc.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Required
• BA/BS degree in Business Administration, Accounting,Finance, Riskor equivalent work experience
• 5-10+ years’ experience with some or all of the following: BCP; Scorecard tracking; Procedures; Records Management; Mandatory training/ Supplier Risk
• Comfortable implementing Risk controls (running risk activities/projects) in a business environment
• Ability to coordinate, multitask and prioritize issues, assignments and project independently
• Certified Business Continuity Professional (CBCP Certification) or Master Business Continuity Professional (MBCP) – willing to obtain this with TIAA sponsorship
Preferred
• A strategic understanding of TIAA business alignment would be preferable
• Program management experience
• Demonstrated relationship management and influencing skills
• Ability to function effectively and proficiently in an environment of ongoing change and ability to oversee multiple deliverables to completion
