Primary Job Duties & Responsibilities
Industry/Segment Portfolio Management:
Conducts investigations and analyze the pros and cons of a new product offering to support the business and enterprise position. May gather data on exposure, claim analysis, actuarial data, etc. to support a business-unit position.
Works collaboratively with Asset Management Segment regional and national underwriters, Product Managers and business unit leadership to maximize profitability and drive production growth.
May lead strategic initiatives (e.g. rate need action plans).
Analyze Claim, Actuarial, Finance and Compliance data to understand portfolio dynamics.
Work with Business Intelligence and Analytics regarding tools and resources necessary to evaluate and manage the portfolio and current underwriting strategy.
May work with external vendors on related tools.
Industry/Segment Expertise:
Executes policies and/or strategies on topics of broad interest or exposure relating to Asset Management industry segment.
Researches key segment/ industry issues. Is seen as a Bond & SI expert on those issues.
May develop underwriting strategies resulting from industry/segment analysis.
Responsible for creating and communicating industry specific topical white papers for training and internal education purposes.
Identifies trends/ opportunities/ emerging issues and educates segment underwriters, both domestically and internationally.
May represent the segments position on industry issues at the company level (regarding things such as rate, regulatory, economic implications, political.
questions, etc.).
Provides counsel to field staff on specific industry-related issues.
May participate in external broker or client meetings.
Responsible for identification and development of value added services/ products within industry segment.
E & O Product Management:
May be responsible for setting strategy for Asset Management E&O rate adequacy, pricing and product for industry segment.
Develops and communicates segment specific underwriting and Asset Management E&O product standards.
Responsible for maintaining and updating Asset Management E&O product underwriting manual, as well as any additional industry specific guidance in other underwriting.

Job Summary
The Bond and Specialty Insurance Financial Institutions Home Office team is seeking a talented and energetic professional to join the Asset Management Home Office team as a Director, Asset Management Portfolio Manager. Under broad oversight, this role will be responsible and accountable for the strategic and operational functions of the Asset Management segment and the segment specific E&O product line. The Portfolio Manager will work very closely with the National Underwriting Officer, other home office team members, actuary and claim to assure the overall profitability of the portfolio. Specific responsibilities will include identifying growth and retention opportunities as well as conducting research for new product opportunities; competitive analysis; industry research; and underwriting issues. The Portfolio Manager will lead our analytics for business strategy and portfolio management and drives the adoption of tools for underwriting and systems platforms. A strong technical background on segment trends, exposures, and coverage is required.
The role does not have direct reports.
Minimum Qualifications
4 year college degree required.
Education, Work Experience & Knowledge
Advanced degree preferred. (MBA, CFA.) 5+ years of relevant experience preferred.
