The CAB Portfolio Manager (CAB PM) supports Mutual of Omaha Bank's strong relationship banking culture, which emphasizes the leveraging of teamwork to deliver exceptional customer service to client company, their owners and their employees. As a Bank employee in CAB Lending, the CAB PM will be assigned a portfolio of client relationships that they will co-manage in tandem with, and under the guidance of, the CAB Lending Manager. When a CAB PM and CAB Lending Manager work in tandem to jointly co-manage accounts, clients will benefit from having multiple points of contact at the bank and shorter turnaround times for all requests. Where the CAB Lending Manager will primarily be responsible for the business development aspects of managing the larger CAB accounts and portfolio loan growth, the CAB PM will be responsible for the day-to-day duties and responsibilities associated with managing the CAB loan portfolio. It is intended that the separation of these duties will result in superior portfolio growth and superior risk and asset management. It is further intended that the separation of these duties and responsibilities will provide the owners and employee of CAB clients with an enhanced service experience.
Essential Job Functions:
• Provide Excellent Customer Service - The CAB PM is responsible for proactively monitoring and managing the needs of client companies. The CAB PM will work with internal and external business partners to ensure banking products and services are provided to meet the needs of client companies in a timely manner. The CAB PM will work closely with the CAB Lending Manager to support the profitable growth of the CAB loan portfolio. The CAB PM must maintain a strong knowledge of banking services, as well as knowledge of the CAB industry and markets served in order to fulfill these duties.
• Asset Quality Management - The CAB PM will monitor and track the financial conditions of client borrowers, and prepare and present status reports to senior management on a regular basis. This includes the regular reassessment of risk ratings, and the documentation of changes in credit risk ratings when appropriate. The CAB PM is responsible for reviewing financial statements, monitoring covenant compliance, and meeting with clients to discuss trends, projections and any issues or opportunities that may arise. The CAB PM will also coordinate the completion of annual reviews, property site inspections and any other form of third-party post-transaction due diligence. The CAB PM will collaborate with internal business partners to ensure compliance with CAB Lending policies and practices and regulatory statutes at the relationship level.
• Manage Portfolio Growth - The CAB PM reviews and monitors the credit quality of both existing and new CAB loan opportunities. The CAB PM will work with credit analysts to ensure proper underwriting, and may perform underwriting functions as needed. The CAB PM may also present new loan requests, and modification requests to credit officers and credit committees. The CAB PM will work with Regional Account Executives (RAEs), Sales Assistants, Analysts, the Underwriting Manager and Loan Assistants to coordinate the due diligence process including the review of reserve study reports, third party audits and property site inspections.
• Loan Structuring and Documentation - The CAB PM is responsible for the sound structuring of new and existing CAB loans, loan modifications, and other agreements. The CAB PM negotiates with clients, property management companies, community associations and community and HOA Boards, as well as other parties pertaining to loan terms, pricing and conditions. The CAB PM will assist in the reviewing of legal agreements, and will work with outside council and other internal business partners to ensure that legal documents are prepared correctly.
• Business development - Under the guidance of and in tandem with the CAB Lending Manager, the CAB PM will identify and pursue opportunities to grow CAB Lending relationships with other bank groups including Treasury Management, Private Banking and Wealth Management. The CAB PM will seek and act on referrals from client companies and will make referrals to other business groups such as Private Banking, Wealth Management, Treasury Management and Retail, when possible.
• Comply with all related Federal, State and industry laws and regulations pertaining to banking.
• This position requires up to 66% travel, which may include flying and/or driving and some overnight stays.
• This position requires sitting over 66% of the time.
• This position requires Visual Acuity at 20 inches (or less) over 66% of the time.
Minimum Qualifications:
• Bachelors or Masters degree in Finance, Accounting, Real Estate, Economics, or other related field
• Three years of progressive work experience in Commercial Banking or comparable experience in Investment Banking
• Strong understanding of financial statement analysis and commercial credit underwriting. Formal credit training is preferred
• Knowledge of compliance with federal regulations pertaining to both commercial real estate and community association lending
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, consultative sales and presentation skills
• Excellent organizational, problem solving, credit analysis and negotiating skills
• Ability to effectively communicate and make effective presentations to existing and prospective customers and company principals, banking officials and community leaders
• Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously in a fast paced, diverse and growth oriented environment
• Ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality
• Personal computer skills to include various software packages, including word processing, spreadsheet, electronic mail and presentation, and banking systems
