Description
Job Purpose
The Senior Financial Accountant is primarily responsible for the preparation of the internal monthly financial statements and ACR reports for Jackson’s registered broker-dealer subsidiary, Jackson National Life Distributors, LLC (JNLD), for approval by the JNLD Vice President, Controller. Additionally, the position will assist with routine reporting and expense analysis.
Essential Job Duties & Responsibilities
• Ensures a timely and accurate monthly closing cycle.
• Preliminary general ledger reviews and preparation of reclass entries, as deemed necessary
• Reviews accrual and prepaids and prepares appropriate journal entries.
• Oversees the 12b-1 fee revenue and trail allocations, including reviewing the reports received for backup and booking the associated entries required.
• Prepares monthly journal entries for the internal financial statements.
• Prepares monthly financial statements and reconciliations for review and approval by the JNLD VP, Controller.
• Coordinates with JNLD management on acquisition cost report (ACR) analysis.
• Assists with the annual financial statement audit and periodic FINRA requests.
• Assists with gathering information required for Marketing Allowance Payment accruals, settlement and analysis.
• Supports JNLD management as needed with special projects.

Qualifications
Job Requirements (Knowledge, Skills & Abilities)
• Strong knowledge of GAAP basis accounting requirements.
• Strong analytical and quantitative skills along with accuracy and attention to detail.
• Strong organization skills, independent thought, and excellent problem-solving skills.
• Ability to effectively communicate with all levels of management.
• Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
• Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel and familiarity with other Microsoft Office applications.
• Ability to meet job requirements with a positive and productive attitude.
Education and Experience
• Bachelors degree in Accounting or Finance required. CMA or CPA preferred.
• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience required.
Certifications, Licenses, Registrations Required
• Series 99 preferred or to be obtained within 6 months of hire.
