Position Description
The Director of Public Relations role will be responsible for developing, managing and executing strategic external communications programs to advance Ally's business goals. This position will support Ally's corporate public relations initiatives with a focus on external communications and media relations.
Job Responsibilities
• Develop and implement proactive external communications strategies that position Ally and its executives as leaders in digital financial services, highlight Ally's distinctive culture and elevate the company's corporate reputation.
• Create strategic and tactical communications, including plans, press releases, media materials, media pitches, and messaging to support key business initiatives.
• Build and sustain productive relationships with key business, consumer and trade publications consistent with Ally's target demographics and respond to inquiries from the press regarding the business.
• Collaborate with broader marketing team, investor relations team, business partners and agencies to develop, execute and enhance initiatives.
• Analyze results of key initiatives and propose recommendations to achieve goals.
• Build and cultivate strong relationships with key leaders and subject matter experts to develop appropriate messages and communications.
• Contribute to the effectiveness of the Marketing function, including participating in general departmental deliverables and forums and implementing best practices from the team.
• Manage external events and work with partners to ensure high standards and excellent quality is delivered in terms of content, environment and logistics.
Qualifications
• B.S./ B.A. degree or higher from top-tier university
• 8-10 years of PR/Communications experience, with a focus on corporate and/or financial PR
• Strong critical thinking and decision-making skills
• Ability to gather information from multiple sources and develop into compelling stories
• Deep understanding of business, financial and technology media
• Excellent writing and verbal communication skills
• Experience in media relations, established media relationships
• Works well under pressure, independently and in a fast-paced environment
• Strong organizational and project management skills
• Ability to build and maintain key relationships across the business and work collaboratively across the broader Communications/PR and marketing team

Business Unit/Enterprise Function
The Marketing Team is made up of dedicated world class marketing and communications professionals who are responsible for the strategic development and execution of campaigns and initiatives to support Ally, its business lines and product offerings. In addition, the external communications arm of marketing is responsible for advancing Ally's corporate reputation and promoting the company's strategic objectives by developing and executing communications plans for the media and external stakeholders. Marketing also has responsibility for the Ally brand, social media, customer engagement, media relations and cross sell efforts. Additionally, the marketing team oversees enterprise research and delivers insight, tools and trends to the enterprise.
