The Internal Audit Supervisor will assist in the planning, execution and reporting of internal audits of credit products and services being offered by the Bank. The individual will evaluate processes and internal controls, adherence to bank policies and procedures, as well as compliance with federal and state banking regulations. During the course of audits, root causes of issues will be identified as controls and/or operations are enhanced. This position may also be responsible for overseeing and reviewing staff level work, including reporting of the results of audits, projects and special assignments.
Responsibilities
• Execute audit testing under the direction of the Internal Audit Director, which can include individual or multiple audit assignments and/or projects.
• Participate with and/or supervise less experienced auditors on assigned audits.
• Contribute to the development and management of comprehensive risk and control matrices/audit programs for assigned audits.
• Document audit work executed and results within an electronic work papers application.
• Coach, train, and develop auditing junior audit staff to upgrade their knowledge.
• Review audit work to ensure compliance with stated requirements and objectives, IIA standards and internal audit procedures.
• Assist in preparation of audit reports for Executive Management, identifying risk-based issues and mitigation strategies.
• Finalize and present audit results to team members.
• Develop a strong understanding of the business and industry, organizational structure, and regulatory environment.
• Sustain collaborative relationships with management and external auditors through periodic and effective communications.
• Follow up on the disposition of exceptions noted during audits, including internal, external and regulatory examination reports.
Qualifications
• Undergraduate degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration or other relevant field required. A graduate degree or is a plus but not required.
• 4+ years of audit experience in the financial services industry and/or public accounting required.
• Two or more years of experience with commercial credit analysis and underwriting principals, portfolio or credit risk management practices, or relevant auditing experience.
• Possess understandings or direct experience with credit administration and loan operations and serving activities.
• Construction and general collateral evaluation and management.
• Professional certifications such as Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) are desired.
• A working knowledge of internal control analyses and risk assessment methodologies, Institute of Internal Auditor standards, Generally Accepted Auditing Standards (GAAP), and the COSO framework.
• A self-motivated, results-oriented professional with experience and success working in a collaborative environment.
• Strong organizational, communication and interpersonal skills in order to work with multiple levels of management are required. Must be effective at communicating issues through written and verbal channels, with ability to articulate well-thought out and organized information.
• An ability to deal with complex problems involving multiple facets and variables in non-conventional situations. The ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
• Exceptional organizational and time management skills.
• Ability to travel up to 20%.
