Job Description
Position Description
The HR Director will be responsible for developing and directing the strategy around and implementation of Human Resource initiatives for some of Ally's corporate functions or business units, and will act as the lead HR business partner (HRBP) for certain direct reports to Ally's CEO. The HR Director will provide strategy, direction and support for staffing, compensation, talent planning, performance management, org structure, engagement, and employee relations concerns for assigned functions. This position will manage a small team.
Job Responsibilities
• Applies knowledge of enterprise goals, business environment, and functional needs to design and develop strategic plans; executes strategies and methods in alignment with enterprise goals and HR policies and practices.
• Serves as trusted advisor and valued business partner to executive leadership and their teams.
• Acts as a coach and mentor to leaders and offers creative solutions to sensitive issues using a multi-disciplined approach.
• Partner with Centers of Excellence to develop and drive client-focused strategy and solutions.
• Evaluates and analyzes data and information from HR reports to determine HR issues impacting the organization.
• Assists managers and employees in resolving employee relations issues.
• Provides compensation guidance in alignment with Ally's pay for performance culture and supports annual compensation planning process.
• Drives change management and process improvement initiatives.
• Drives performance management culture including management and employee development initiatives.
• Partners with Talent Acquisition team on recruitment needs.
• Partners with Finance to ensure headcount and business plan alignment.
Qualifications
• Bachelor's Degree required; Master's Degree preferred
• 10+ years progressive HR/relevant experience
• Experience leading and managing others
• Strong relationship management skills with deep experience in coaching and building credibility with senior leaders.
• Demonstrated experience providing creative solutions to address HR challenges and the organization's business strategies.

◦ Proven track record of resolving complex HR issues across departmental boundaries and facilitating effective group interactions.
◦ Ability to effectively manage sensitive and complex issues that impact the organization.
◦ Ability to use professional concepts to solve a wide range of difficult problems in imaginative and practical ways.
◦ Ability to use judgment, creativity and sound technical knowledge to obtain and recommend solutions.
◦ Strong communication skills: listening, verbal and written.
◦ Ability to manage performance; coach and mentor
