The Senior Enterprise Risk Manager - Legal and HR Services is responsible for the independent Risk Oversight of the Legal and Human Resources functions within Citizens Financial Group Shared Services organization. The role will establish and maintain strong relationships across lines of defense (First Line Legal and HR Organizations, Enterprise Risk, and Internal Audit) as well as with regulators to ensure all aspects of the Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) framework are delivered according to policy and business strategy. This position constitutes a key component within a team of skilled, engaged and customer-focused colleagues with a broad span of responsibilities, who will actively participate in enterprise wide risk initiatives as necessary.
This colleague is responsible for:
• Ensuring that the Business First Line of Defense function appropriately manages the enterprise risks relative to the units’ business activities. This includes all aspects of material risk related to how the business develops, launches, quality assures, and uses technology.
• Ensures the Front Line Unit establishes an effective “end-to-end” risk management program including risk identification, assessment and quantification, aggregation reporting, monitoring, and control environment testing and improvement.
• Focused on ensuring the risk management framework, processes and practices are executed in a way that complies with internal policy and US Regulatory requirements and expectations, while supporting a credible, principle-based risk strategy.
• Partner and collaborate for success with First Line Legal and HR leadership (i.e., the Business Unit), Enterprise Risk Management, Legal, and Internal Audit to ensure timely identification, mitigation, resolution and reporting/escalation of existing, emerging, and upstream risks and issues.
• Drive accountability and work with Business Unit to ensure a strong Enterprise Risk and Compliance Culture and control environment awareness.
• Serve as an independent advisor to the Business Unit colleagues and risk management; participate in Business management, risk, and strategy meetings and provide risk advice, update on risk developments, and report on risk profile to respective Oversight Head.
• In tandem with other Enterprise Risk partners, as appropriate, develop and review ERM policies and Business Procedures, and new business initiatives to ensure a strong Enterprise Risk control environment is adhered to as the business: develops, launches, sells and processes products and services.
• Drive risk identification, assessment and quantification, aggregation reporting, monitoring and control improvement for product /capability groups and client and industry infrastructure. This includes ensuring the risk management framework, processes and practices executed comply with internal policy and US Regulatory requirements and expectations.
• Research and analyze risk trends and industry benchmarking to prepare for and monitor upstream risks and issues while reporting to executive management at Business Line Risk Committees, as appropriate, on effective mitigation strategies.
Qualifications
Skills/Experience:
• 10+ years legal and/or HR leadership experience working in a leadership capacity that has demonstrably resulted in an effective knowledge of and meaningful experience with Legal and/or HR functions within a large enterprise.
• 10+ years executive exposure proven ability to lead and engage with Executive Management, Legal and HR leadership, and regulators.
• 5+ years process improvement, demonstrated experience, ideally including certification, in leading improvements to processes within the workplace.
• Strong partnership, communication, and collaboration skills, including the ability to work effectively with others at all levels across the organization and provide authoritative guidance to management and staff within the organization.
• Strong working knowledge of the risks associated with the Business Division/Unit product and service mix and a track record of partnering with business management to implement effective control and oversight programs.
• Problem solving skills as well as flexibility and adaptability are of key importance.
• Expert knowledge of internal controls and risk assessment
• Deep understanding of relevant products, services and operations; regulatory requirements; and key processes, controls and exposure areas
• Capacity to challenge status quo
• Influencing and conflict resolution skills
• Excellent business writing skills
• Project management skills to support multiple complex assignments on behalf of various stakeholders
• Proficient use of MS Word, MS Excel and PowerPoint and Vision
Education/ Certifications:
• Bachelor Degree required
• Ideal candidate will hold a law degree and/or HR professional certification(s).
• Ideal candidate will have Six Sigma certification.
Hours & Work Schedule
Hours per Week: 40
Work Schedule: 8 -5 Monday - Friday
