Vanguard's Financial Advisor Services (FAS) division is in the process of expanding its investment support offer to financial advisors. As part of this effort, we are creating a new investment support team to bring portfolio construction, analytics, and scalable investment expertise (technical support) to advisor clients. The Head of FAS Investment Support will oversee:
1) Portfolio Analytics and Consulting (PA&C): A growing team of 9 crew and 1 leader who provide portfolio construction consultation services and support ad-hoc analytical client requests.
2) Investment Consultants: These client-facing investment experts will assist Sales in providing deeper investment expertise to clients (product deep-dives, investment thought leadership, portfolio construction, etc). They will each report directly into the Head of FAS investment support.
Duties & Responsibilities
• Work in partnership with the Head of PA&C to continue to grow and evolve the service (better analytical capabilities, reduced turn-around time, etc.) and develop and execute on a long-term strategy for this service.
• Help build out FAS’s localized investment support model. Drive the implementation of this new model, including development of on-boarding and ongoing training, staffing the new team, creation of a client request triage model, etc. Once the team is operational, responsibilities will include: ongoing partnership with Sales to help shape and deliver on our client engagement strategy, supporting product campaigns, maintaining relationships with key enterprise partners (e.g. ISG, PRD), and defining KPIs and a longer-term strategy for the service.
• Manages staff. Provides guidance, training and motivation as necessary to develop staff . Hires, evaluates and counsels personnel. Follows corporate disciplinary procedures per established Vanguard standards as required. Sets performance standards, reviews performance, provides feedback and recommends wage increases in accordance with the applicable HR policies and procedures.
• Sets and attains challenging goals and looks for ways to raise standards and improve performance. Participates in the development of short- and long-range goals for the department.
• Participates in special projects and performs other duties as assigned
Qualifications
• Investment professional, leader of specialist, strong client facing skills.
• Series 7, 63 and 24 or the ability to obtain within department guidelines.
• Undergraduate degree required. MBA, Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA), and/or Certified Financial Planner (CFP) strongly preferred.
• Minimum of ten years business experience, including relevant experience in leadership, business strategy, investment management, and/or financial analysis.
• Exceptional leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills; strong persuasion and persuasion skills.
• Proven track record of delivering business results in complex environments. Ability to make decisions and execute amidst fluid and uncertain environments.
• Ability to communicate technical and non-technical information to various levels of audiences internally and externally.
