We are currently seeking qualified, motivated talent to be responsible for supporting the business lines and functions to enable more innovation across the business to identify high-potential opportunities for Bank of the West leadership to consider for implementation. This role will be a key contributor to the Innovation Center of Excellence, a nimble discovery lab that uncovers, researches, analyzes, and recommends new technologies and business models that could meaningfully change the way BOW does business.
In this role you will be:
1. Identifying, developing, tracking, evaluating, and recommending potential innovations for the bank to pursue is a full-time activity and difficult for any one business unit to execute.
2. Discovering and monitoring emerging and launched innovative business models and related trends, especially those related or adjacent to financial services.
3. Gathering innovative ideas inside and outside of the bank, vetting them rapidly, and raising the most interesting/promising/important ideas to the attention of the CEO and senior leadership team.
4. Looking for opportunities for BOW to grow through adoption of new technologies and/or business models or through partnership arrangements.
5. Educating and informing members of the senior leadership to regarding emerging technologies, trends, and business models and the potential implications for the industry and BOW.
6. Developing and presenting robust business cases, including high-level strategies and financials, for a small number of the most promising opportunities.
7. Contributing to the development of a culture of innovation by identifying potential opportunities and being a key driver to deliver approved projects in internal innovation/entrepreneurship, open innovation with the external ecosystem, and developing required capabilities to enable and accelerate innovation across the bank
8. Orchestrating and supporting Proof of Concepts (POC) including delivery of the POC in partnership with the BU’s, measurement and reporting, and identification and provision of needed capabilities to execute on POC.
9. Providing thought leadership in multiple mediums – blogs, formal presentations, podcasts, etc.
10. Strong primary research skills with ability to creatively leverage subscription and public domain source
11. Creating and delivering executive-level presentations
12. Performing other duties as assigned

Qualifications
• High School -
• Bachelor’s Degree in Business/Strategy/Technology/Finance - Required
• Master’s/Advanced Degree in Business/Strategy/Technology/Finance - Preferred
• 12 years work experience, preferably in a technology, FinTech, research, corporate strategy, management consulting, or product development environment
