Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Coordinator

Key performance areas
As the Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Coordinator, you will plan, develop, and administer policies and programs regarding OSHA, DEP/EPA RCRA, HAZMAT, Right-To-Know, accident prevention and investigation, and other safety and environmental/regulatory compliance issues. The EHS Coordinator also will be responsible for all related training programs.
Further, you will coordinate and/or perform inspections on the water treatment system, hazardous waste storage area, and hazardous waste satellite storage areas and batch tanks, as mandated by the company. You also will be expected to ensure all required, periodic sampling is conducted and kept up-to-date.
Additionally, the EHS Coordinator will:
• Establish, implement, and maintain the Environmental, Health & Safety System under the guidance of the Environmental, Health & Safety Management representative
• Prepare all required reports regarding environmental issues
• Coordinate disposal of all hazardous and non-hazardous waste with a licensed vendor
• Maintain and keep manifest, and manifest log for all waste loads.
• Ensure all required permits and licenses are up-to-date, and review and renew as necessary.
• Perform safety checks for both buildings and address safety issues as they arise.
• Coordinate and chair all safety meetings
• Monitor, measure, and report Environmental, Health & Safety to the Management representative and other management parties
• Work with supervisors and employees on accident prevention and investigation
• Coordinate and/or conduct scheduled inspections of facility safety equipment.
• Coordinate all environmental, health & safety training, safety programs and OSHA required training with HR Manager & employees
• Develop and maintain the ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001 training
• Monitor all waste streams and ensure they are tested and up to date
• Oversee EPA RCRA closure plan with external environmental consultant
• Maintain good communication with supervisor by keeping him/her informed of environmental, health & safety and other related issues
• Perform Internal Audits of Quality, Environmental, Health & Safety Management System
• Act as a member of the Emergency Response Team, implementing and enforcing all safety rules and environmental, health, and safety regulations.
Your profile
Besides possessing an Associate’s degree in the environmental field, the EHS Coordinator must have 3 - 5 years' related experience. Additionally, the EHS Coordinator must have a thorough knowledge of waste generation, storage, transport, disposal, vendors, training and records (files & manifests).
