JLL’s Americas Research Group is seeking a summer intern to work with various teams in our Portland Oregon Downtown office. This position will have the opportunity to work with local market research and will receive exposure to projects including but not exclusive to data enhancement, management, market analytics and reporting. The goal is to create and maintain best-in-class research that differentiates JLL and drives a competitive advantage in the marketplace through market expertise, analysis and insight. Communication and collaboration will also be necessary with other groups within JLL, including Information Technology, Capital Markets and local markets teams.
OVERALL QUALIFICATIONS
• Develop best in class data and analytics across asset types and markets while strengthening your understanding on the real estate industry
• Maintain extensive knowledge of the macro and micro factors affecting the marketplace and proactively position research to leverage this knowledge for the business and for clients
Specific Responsibilities:
• Enhance and manage data infrastructure across teams and property types
◦ Review property spreadsheets from the national Research offices
◦ Utilize web-based mapping software to determine validity of property address
◦ Format all property spreadsheets in line with the standards required for import into our internal database
◦ Aid in user acceptance testing of the internal database that is being deployed
• Analyze supply and demand fundamentals, leading and development, sales and financing activity
• Derive and analyze economic, demographic, financial, and regulatory trends that could impact performance or investment
• Articulate in a compelling way market trends and insights internally and externally in written reports and presentations
• Collaborate with Americas Research team to provide on-going support across property types and regions.
• Assist with the preparation of presentation and pitch materials for new business pursuits.
• Gather and evaluate economic, demographic and real estate market data for input into client deliverables and valuation models.
• Assist with preparation of client deliverables and presentations which influence and provide impact for the client.
EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
• In the process of obtaining or have already secured a bachelor’s degree in business, finance, economics or related field required and a demonstrated interest in commercial real estate
• Strong analytical skills, problem solving ability, and written and oral communication skills
• Ability to multi-task, succeed under pressure and effectively manage time and workload; strong organization and prioritization skills
• Strong Microsoft Suite skills, with advanced Excel skills
• Candidate must maintain high levels of accuracy / attention to detail in their work
• Motivated and self-starting with a desire to succeed and contribute to the success of a team
• Exceptional computer skills and proficiency with Microsoft-based products is required
• A desire to work within a diverse, collaborative and driven professional environment
Timeframe: Start any time
Time commitment: 3+ months preferred, minimum 3 days per week.
Through this role, you will get a first-class introduction to the local commercial real estate market, build up detailed market knowledge, and prepare yourself for a wide range of careers -- ranging from information technology to real estate investment
