Job Description Summary
Conducts daily processing of financial transactions, contract maintenance and analysis of synthetic Guaranteed Investment Contracts (GIC). Processes requests related to administering complex contractual terms and plan reviews.
• Process deposit and withdrawal transactions for synthetic GIC contracts. Analyze deposit and withdrawal trends to ensure the terms of the contract are not breached. Manage the escalation of unusual transaction items that may have an effect on risk management and marketing activities.
• Process monthly market value, yield, and duration for each contract for valuation and risk reporting.
• Ensure appropriate calculation and reconciliation of actual-to-expected P&I payments on fixed income securities.
• Process fee receipts. Understand contractual fee structure and payment method to ensure appropriate calculation, billing, reconciliation, and collection of fee income.
• Create reporting to identify trends or exceptions that can assist in mitigating risk to the administration process.
• Maintain and update contacts in the administrative system to ensure that appropriate individuals are receiving month-end statements and fee invoices. Analyze contractual terms to ensure receipt of timely data from investment managers, including daily and monthly transactions, monthly/quarterly performance information such as market values, investment guideline compliance certificates and detailed portfolio information.
• Maintain and update Watch List contracts in the administrative system to ensure contracts are administered appropriately.
• Maintain and update plan information in the underwriting administration system.
• Ensure data integrity in the administrative system is maintained.
• Maintain a strong professional relationship with external clients who provide transactions and monthly reports.
• Maintain internal business partnerships with Marketing, Legal and Risk Management.
• Support new and related Stable Value products and projects.
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in economics, finance, accounting, mathematics or relevant field.
• Two years of experience working with fixed income securities.
• Aptitude for actuarial, financial and investment concepts to conduct root cause analysis and business analysis.
• Proficiency with MS Excel, Access, SQL, Tableaux or other tools to extract and analyze data and report results.
Preferred qualifications
• MBA, CPA or CFA.
• Experience working in investment operations or investment accounting/analysis.
• Knowledge of synthetic GIC contracts related to contract terms, allowable transactions and compliance activities.
