Job Description
Infrastructure Services, a team within Global Operations, has been tasked with the core goal of creating a common Enterprise Payment Platform representing the Discover, DCI and PULSE networks. The team will work with our Business Technology group to develop, test and implement new and improved transaction processing application requirements. They will also align policy and processes where applicable. Becoming a member of this team is an opportunity to work collaboratively with colleagues from all of the Discover Financial payment networks (PULSE, DN, and DCI).
This role within Infrastructure Services is responsible for participating in and leading infrastructure system strategic development, including analysis and gathering of all relevant information as input to user story workshops for all Disputes applications including cross functional areas like data services, user interface and client databases. This has both an inward and outward facing responsibility and is critical in ensuring the common understanding of what is being delivered. The role includes business analysis, backlog grooming, operational readiness and substantial collaboration with the Payment Services business and technology partners. This role is heavily reliant on communication across participants and management, agile (SAFe) methodologies, payments industry knowledge and trends. The focus of this role will be on business data definition and mapping for the common platform, ensuring consistency of data implementations throughout the various interfaces being developed and documenting data dependencies. This includes both transactional and customer profile data.
This position is focused on planning and developing requirements for DCI Disputes, while executing on DN Disputes.
*This position is located in Riverwoods (IL), but New Albany (OH) candidates will be considered as well.
Responsibilities:
• Research current DCI Disputes and develop requirements for EPP DCI Disputes
• Execute on DN Disputes in partnership with other product owners
• Collaborate with Product Manager and other Product Owners to provide subject matter input in feature development
• Provide subject matter information to the Product Managers for roadmap development/modification
• Breakdown features into user stories
• Refine user stories with the sprint team
• Ensure all user stories are kept up to date as design and requirements change throughout the release
• Actively monitor user stories to ensure acceptance criteria was implemented correctly
• Attend user story workshops and backlog grooming sessions
• Develop partnership relationships with Other Technical and Operational Teams and maintain working rapport with others, leveraging these relationships to meet common project milestone/goal.
• Provide cross functional knowledge of Technical infrastructures, Application development and Payment Services industry
• Identify Network alignment opportunities
• Provide input and support for business analysis; support development of presentation material
• Review, analyze and prioritize Voice of the customer feedback to incorporate in user stories
• Provide input into process, procedures and controls.
• Review and maintain existing process, procedures and controls
• Contribute in project related meetings to help drive decisions
• Promote a risk-aware culture; ensure efficient and effective risk and compliance management practices by adhering to required standards and practices
Skills Required:
• Bachelor’s Degree (or equivalent experience)
• 6 years of relevant experience (3 years of Product Owner experience preferred)
• High learning agility and ability to come up to speed quickly on subject matter information, Agile practices and mode of operations in the project
• Excellent analytical skills with demonstrated experience in interpreting data and translating into insight
• Independent thinker. Knows what to do with minimal direction and does it, without waiting to be told.
• Believes in honesty and has a positive attitude and passion towards excelling in complex situations
• Experience in defining approach, action plans and oversight of project execution
• Demonstrated leadership in identifying and facilitating resolution of requirement, process and project issues
• Ability to prepare clear and concise communications to internal and external business partners and senior management regarding initiatives, issues and achievements
• Proven leadership to drive cross functional teams to a consensus and manage groups without direct authority
Skills Preferred:
• DCI Disputes system and business knowledge
• Technical background, with ability to understand databases, infrastructure, APIs, etc.
• Strategic and long term planner, with demonstrated ability to develop and execute complex project plans
• Extensive knowledge of the payment services industry, including operational and technical aspects
• Proficient in Agile methodology, including backlog grooming, interactive engagement with Scrum Master, SMEs and other Product Owners
• Knowledge and experience of Disputes systems or policy
• Proficient in Microsoft Office
