Description
The Project Manager, Retirement / PMO is responsible for providing consultative project management supporting strategic initiatives for Prudential's Retirement Business and may manage projects independently or aligned under larger, more complex projects or programs. This position is responsible for all aspects of project management including coordinating business requirements, project scope and plans, allocation and coordination of resources, tracking and reporting results, communications, financials, systems interdependencies, user testing and training, organizational preparedness and business adoption. The Manager interacts with cross business groups and may interact with senior management. Successful candidates typically have 3 to 5 years of project management and/or business related experience.
The PM can be based in Hartford, CT, Scranton PA, or Woodbridge, NJ.
Key Responsibilities
• Manage and lead members of cross functional teams (no direct reports)
• Accountable for planning and delivering initiatives
• Diligently manages project planning of scope, schedule, financials, and quality; defines and tracks project milestones
• Interfaces with internal business executives, stakeholders, and potentially external entities (i.e., vendors, consultants, clients)
• Coordinates with IT partners to oversee SDLC phases of the project
• Develops project charter, project plans, resource, communication and risk plans and other relevant project management artifacts
• Proactively manage risks, issues, dependencies and the change management processes for assigned initiatives
• Actively tracks and communicates status for key initiatives
• Understands business benefits, represents project cost and benefits accurately
• Escalates risks and proposes mitigating strategies
• Ensures the project delivery and results are of the highest quality
Qualifications
• Demonstrated and applied experience delivering projects, especially in a financial services environment
• An entrepreneurial mindset that demonstrates stakeholder partnership, judgement, risk management, team leadership, ownership, commitment, learning agility and business knowledge
• Team player; proven ability to earn the trust of key stakeholders, set direction and mobilize teams
• Ability to prioritize, meet deadlines, and manage through changing priorities
• Utilizes consistent project management tools and maintains reporting; strong knowledge of project management concepts and disciplines
• Excellent communication, influencing and interpersonal skills with ability to manage diverse client groups
• Strong analytical and problem solving skills
• Ability to navigate the organization
• Solid business and technical acumen
• Stakeholder management experience
• Strong judgment; ability to make decisions and work effectively under pressure
• Self-motivated with the ability to prioritize, meet deadlines and manage changing priorities
• Proficiency in MS Office and project management tools (e.g. MS Project, SharePoint, Clarity)
• Knowledge of Agile and Waterfall methodology
• Bachelor's Degree required
• PMP Certification considered a plus
• Up to approximately 20% travel may be required, depending on project assignment
