This role is responsible for developing an end-state target vision for the Global Reinsurance Operations team that encompasses people, process, systems, and locations objectives and implements changes and transformation programs to deliver that vision. The Optimization Lead will collaborate with accountable executives in the GRO leadership team to shape and design individual change initiatives and provide holistic oversight across the portfolio, identifying synergies and driving cost savings with a clear emphasis on financial value and return on investment. This individual will be responsible for driving optimization efforts within their team using myriad tools and techniques, including but not limited to Lean Six Sigma, RPA, Location strategy, and Process Re-engineering, to deliver services to internal and external clients more efficiently and accurately. Creative thinking and challenging how the team operates will be key to this person’s success in the role.
Duties and Responsibilities
• Responsible for the successful delivery of initiatives to schedule, budget & quality parameters
• Ensure that optimal compliant project methodologies are in place with appropriate controls that allow for objective risk taking and rapid delivery but minimize execution risks. Drive the creation (with IT) of an associated ecosystem to support endeavors, including but not limited to the introduction of professional agile working practices across the organization
• Responsible for the reinsurance operations department budget and the overall project budget, ensuring that internal and external resources and IT investment are leveraged to optimize delivery within agreed financial boundaries. Drives the annual project budget setting process
• Enhance capabilities within the Optimization and overall reinsurance operations team including Consultancy skills and process improvement skills and knowledge. Develop Business Analyst capabilities as a specific sub-function with appropriate skills, structure and career path
• Prioritize development of employees, build a culture within the team that encourages collaboration and inspires/motivates employees to excel, focus equally on ‘what’ employees are delivering with ‘how’ they are delivering, provide stretch opportunities for staff to learn and grow into new roles, develop succession plans and proper training, and encourage work/life balance
• Managing expenses of the team and meeting expense related targets on an annual basis
• Being a leader of change within the team and across the broader Reinsurance Operations team
Experience and Education Requirements
• A Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Accounting, or related field or equivalent experience
• 10+ years in reinsurance administration, information technology and/or accounting
• Financial systems knowledge and familiarity with databases and complex excel spreadsheets
• Reinsurance, insurance or financial services experienced preferred
• Management and/or project management experience preferred
• Knowledge of change management tools and techniques
• Experience in leading operations functions, tracking performance and driving optimization

• Able to work & effectively communicate with all levels of an organization, including executive management

• Willingness to travel as needed (~10%)
