Role/Responsibilities:
The Analyst will monitor a portfolio of commodity companies principally in chemicals and metals & mining sectors. The Analyst will be responsible for detailed credit analysis of individual companies covering management strategy, operations, competitive environment, business risk and capital structure. He or she will also assess liquidity risk and corporate governance. The Analyst will provide initial rating recommendations for new issuers as well as recommend changes to ratings of existing issuers to a rating committee.
The Analyst will publish written opinions for companies on a timely and regular basis. He or she will write more detailed company research, related industry research and industry outlooks. The Analyst will manage their assigned issuer relationships and engage in outreach meetings with investors and intermediaries. The Analyst will be responsible for mentoring the Associate Analysts on the team.
Qualifications
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree required and Master's degree preferred.
5+ years experience in credit analysis, principally in the commodity industry.
Desired skills include: experience in assessing complex corporate and capital structures; ability to interpret legal documents; demonstrated ability to interact effectively with senior level executives (CEO, CFO, Treasurer) and to manage relationships with issuers, investors and intermediaries; demonstrated ability to prepare written analysis to support analytical judgment. Strong presentation and public speaking skills are also desirable
