Job Description
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
• Develop an annual marketing plan that provides details on how to achieve annual new business goal, new business development activities, sponsorship / promotional needs, and how to leverage internal resources. Plan will also include client retention strategies.
• Prospect new business by phone, direct mail, referrals, associations, centers of influence and KeyBank tools in accordance with agency guidelines.
• Execute on activities as determined by sales manager to ensure successful sales habits and protocols. Respond to requests for data in a timely fashion.
• Subscribe to consultative sales approach that promotes Key Insurance & Benefit Services’ (KIB) value proposition and our entire suite of services.
• Track and update prospecting and sales activities in Salesforce.
• Cross sell other areas of KIB and KeyBank by developing relationships
• Maintain a direct client relationship, while positioning KIB account management team as the primary contact for day-to-day service needs. Producer to focus primarily on new business development opportunities.
• Support procedures to maximize efficiency and profitability.
• Ensure producer compensation is accurate on a monthly basis and report discrepancies as soon as possible.
• Stays informed of industry news, product developments, legislation, technology and share with sales team as appropriate.
• Build a network of centers of influence inside and outside the company.
• Effectively communicate with business owners, c-suite and decision makers.
• Promote KIB brand and value proposition on a regional basis via seminars, sponsorships, speaking engagements, board positions, newsletters, etc.
• Utilize all sales tools such as Knowledge Hub, MiEdge, First Research, drip campaigns, SMEs, and Avention.
• Identify clients’ financial, strategic, and operational needs and offer solutions.
• Pre-qualify prospects to determine our opportunity for success and identify the key decision makers / stakeholders.
• Participate in KeyBank and community activities.
• Successfully deliver value driven services/solutions to targeted prospects.
• Follow KeyBank KIB policies and procedures.
• Provide solutions for complex issues where analysis of data requires evaluation of a variety of factors including the prospects’ culture, business plan, goals, objectives and employee population.
• Sets reasonable expectations to ensure that deliverables are met in the sales process; and ensures that account management teams provide quality service to all assigned clients. Collaborate with local manager.
• Transitions new accounts to the account management team seamlessly.
• Continually improve technical training and selling skills through formal continuing education, internal resources and carrier meetings.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Three or more years of successful sales experience. Employee Benefits sales experience preferred.
• Bachelor’s degree required
• Required to obtain the appropriate state licensing with 90 days of hire with preference given to those with existing insurance licensure and/or industry designations. Maintain valid insurance license and satisfy continuing education requirements.
• Above average oral and written communication skills
• Good mathematical skills
• High degree of self-discipline and motivation
• Demonstrate skills of persuasion and negotiation
• Must hold a valid driver’s license and ability to travel as needed
• Basic computer skills (Outlook, Word, Excel, Powerpoint)
• Excellent phone communication
• Resilient
