About the Job
Perform due diligence for proposed healthcare and multifamily FHA-insured loans. Includes analyzing proposed loans and working with originators, program managers and underwriting analysts to prepare loan applications to FHA.
Essential Job Functions

Pursue and develop internal and external relationships to facilitate effective real estate transactions and support the line of business strategy.
Consistently follow established process and procedures for underwriting real estate transactions to ensure an efficient, diligent and methodical process.
Lead an underwriting team that applies for FHA-insured affordable loans.
Work with originators, senior management and the underwriting team to analyze deals and determine whether they appear financially feasible prior to formal client engagement.
Perform and supervise due diligence for proposed multifamily FHA-insured affordable loans. Includes analyzing proposed loans, reviewing third-party reports and working with the underwriting team to prepare loan applications to be submitted to HUD.
Collect, organize, review and underwrite exhibits for pre-application and firm application packages to submit for HUD review.
Complete and/or review HUD forms for pre-application and firm application submissions.
Be the driver of transactions you underwrite and process to ensure they are completed in a timely manner.
Present application to Loan Committee prior to loan submission to HUD.
Consistently identify and assess transaction risks and appropriately document in accordance with credit approval and elevate any issues which appear to be deviating from such to assist in properly managing portfolio risks.
Maintain a productive relationship with all partners characterized by collaborative approach and full and timely disclosure of transaction risks ensuring open communication among all team members.
Complete all compliance requirements related to each transaction to minimize risk.
Become the main point of contract with FHA regarding FHA-insured affordable loans that you underwrote.
Keep senior management fully apprised of all review activities.
Work with closing and loan servicing as required.
Support originators and senior management in the initial analysis of deals to facilitate new business.
Knowledge of FHA affordable, multifamily and healthcare programs.
Must demonstrate sound understanding of the fundamentals of analyzing commercial real estate transactions.
Review third-party reports, i.e. market studies, appraisals, project capital needs assessments, Phase I environmental assessments, etc. to ensure accuracy and reasonableness.
Assist with preparation of loan packages to HUD/FHA to ensure timely submissions.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree or related commercial real estate underwriting experience
Strong knowledge of affordable housing programs.
Must be proficient with Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Bachelor’s degree, or higher, in real estate and/or financial analysis
Experience in commercial real estate underwriting and analysis.
Experience underwriting FHA-insured loans.
Demonstrates good organizational and time management skills.
Demonstrates initiative and good leadership qualities.
Works well in a team-oriented environmental.
Handles conflict without a confrontational attitude.
