*Job Description This Underwriter I position is on the Real Estate Team for home equity loans and lines.
Decision loan applications for Key Bank Consumer Loan Center within assigned lending authority.
POSITION TITLE:Job Title: Underwriter I - CLC
JOB BRIEF (PURPOSE):This is an entry level position to become an underwriter to decision Consumer Loan applications in the KeyBank Consumer Loan Center.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
• Review the credit bureau and credit worthiness of the application while adhering to the stated turnaround time
• Obtain values (NADA, Purchase Orders) and review collateral position on collateralized requests
• Analyze financial data including personal tax returns; pay stub,W-2’s, pension/award letters, business tax returns, K-1’s, personal financial statement and home owner’s insurance
• Ensure that rates and products are within Key’s policy
• Review ALS and HOGAN information as required
• Review additional documentation including trust agreements, POA’s, divorce decrees, etc. when needed
• Review appraisals/title work as required
• Ensure that every loan reviewed is KeyDoc ready
• Queue management to ensure 1st in 1st out process is adhered
• Accurate and concise messages to Key Centers & Telesales/Sales Support
• Phone & email communication is delivered in a professional and productive method
• Thorough review of all information provided from applicant for loan processing
• Compliance with all regulatory requirements, including accurate GMI reporting and Dodd Frank procedures
• Review application for Policy Exceptions/Overrides when warranted
• Assigned report review
• Testing and Compliance review as assigned
• Attend monthly loan review meetings
• Ensure all Clean Desk procedures are followed
• Compliance Testing completed as required/assigned
• Participation in Underwriter Training
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:Candidate must:
• Have a college degree or equivalent work experience
• Demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Demonstrate teamwork and leadership skills
• Possess the ability to work in a fast paced environment in a highly regulated and ever changing consumer bank segment
• Demonstrate ability and confidence to make a decision based on their review of specific data
• Have keen attention to detail and time management skills to effectively process work flow
• A basic understanding of personal financial documents like W-2, tax returns, and accounting statements
• Be proficient in Excel, Word and use of a personal computer
• Two to Three years prior financial services environment and knowledge of credit scoring and consumer lending regulations are preferred.
