Description
The Head of Internal Audit is responsible for leading the internal audit and Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) functions for the entire organization. Primary responsibilities for the examination and evaluation of the design and operating effectiveness of the organization’s network of risk management, internal controls, and governance processes. Reports functionally to the Audit Committee of the Board of Directors and assists them and Executive Management in their governance responsibilities surrounding risk management, internal controls, regulatory compliance, and process effectiveness.
Essential Skills:
• Develops and implements a flexible/dynamic annual audit plan using appropriate risk-based methodology, including any risks or control concerns identified by management, and submits that plan to the Audit Committee for review and approval. Assists in the investigation of significant suspected unethical activities, as requested, and notifies management and the audit committee of the results. Oversees audit’s participation in key business and technology consultative initiatives and special projects.
• Hires and maintains a very capable and professional audit staff with sufficient knowledge, skills, and experience to meet the requirements of the Internal Audit function.
• Issues periodic reports to the audit committee and management summarizing the status and results of the annual audit plan and sufficiency of department resources. Keeps the Audit Committee and Executive Management informed of conditions that could have a significant impact on MGI operations.
• Develops and maintains strong and collaborative relationships with the Audit Committee, Executive Management, Operating Management, outside examiners, and external auditors.
• Oversees the Sarbanes-Oxley Section 404 management control testing and coordination with Controller, CIO, and external Auditors.
• Coordinates MGI’s Enterprise Risk Management process
Qualifications
Education:
• Bachelor’s Degree
• CPA or CIA certification required.
• Other professional certifications, such as CISA, CAMS or CRMA a plus
• MBA or other advanced business degree a strong plus
Experience:
• 15 years of auditing experience
• 8 years substantive experience leading large audit teams in an internal audit department of a large, global, complex financial institution and/or a global public accounting firm.
• Proven experience building strong relationships
• Experience in a leadership/managerial/supervisory capacity
• Experience in Audit Committee/Board interactions
• Experience auditing compliance with key regulations pertinent to a global financial services company (e.g., AML, Anti-Fraud, Dodd-Frank, SOX, Privacy Laws, Country Licenses, FCPA, UK Bribery Act, etc.).
• Experience auditing a complex IT environment is essential.
