The Customer Insights Analyst position is responsible for the design, execution and communication of primary market research projects intended to address business objectives and drive strategic business unit targeted growth and innovation. This position is part of the Insights and Marketing Strategy team within the Marketing Operation, responsible for influencing business decisions by providing actionable insights regarding Mutual of Omaha's customers and prospects, products and distributions, and companies and competitors.
Essential Job Functions:
• Responsible for the conception, design, execution, analysis and communication of primary market research activities. Examples of projects could include consumer segmentation and profiling, needs states assessments, new product development/innovation, barriers/path to purchase studies, creative evaluation and concept testing, marketing mix effectiveness and VOC/VOE programs.
• Collaborates with internal stakeholders to understand and document business objectives in order to define research objectives. Helps select appropriate research suppliers, methodologies and techniques to meet those objectives, and provides direction in the development and recommendation of research plans.
• Participates on project teams and strategic activities as a subject matter expert on market research related activities.
• Provides direction in project execution, including the development of research instruments (moderator guides, research questionnaires, etc). Participates in the analysis of research results, yielding actionable insights for the business that address objectives. Presents findings in a variety of formats (verbal, written) and contexts (conference calls, meetings).
• Evaluates new technologies and solutions in the field of market research to proactively and continually further the effectiveness of the enterprise function.
• Utilizes secondary or syndicated research as needed to inform and guide primary market research projects.
• This position may require frequent standing or walking for extended periods of time.
• This position requires Visual Acuity at 20 inches (or less) over 66% of the time.
Minimum Qualifications:
• 3+ years marketing, market research, project management or data analytics experience.
• Experience with a variety of market research methodologies.
• Ability to translate business needs to market research opportunities.
• Ability to synthesize and extract actionable insights relevant to business objectives.
• Strong verbal and written communication, problem-solving skills and analytical ability.
• Effective project management and organization skills, the ability to work well under tight deadlines with attention to detail.
• Experience managing vendor relationships, contracts, timelines and budgets.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Bachelors or Advanced degree in relevant field (ie business intelligence, market research or marketing).
• Experience in insurance or financial services industries.
• Ability leading cross functional teams and projects
