First Data’s Operations and Call Center functions are focused on providing the outstanding client service, support and experiences that are critical to our ongoing success. Our Operations owner-associates are responsible for the stability of our global network infrastructure by helping our financial institution clients with various aspects of transaction processing, including statement management, card production and ticket-issue resolution. Our Call Center owner-associates are often the first point of contact for our business clients, and they play an important role in driving client satisfaction. They are responsible for answering questions and resolving problems on a wide range of issues, including account activation inquiries, potential fraudulent activity and our full range of products and services.
Position Description Overview
Responsible for overseeing and managing risk and controls within multiple First Data companies (TeleCheck Services, Inc., TRS Recovery Services, Inc., Money Network, etc.) for the Network and Security Solutions (NSS) Risk and Control Organization (RC). This may include business development functions and/or support of new products and solutions. May provide leadership and guidance to various levels in the functional unit in delivering and/or effectively supporting legal and business unit risk, processes and procedures as well as accomplishing business unit goals and strategies. Develops implements and enforces policies, procedures, and programs to minimize risk. Provides training on a multitude of payment acceptance topics and interprets highly technical information into business requirements and accountable for the delivery of information that has a direct effect on financial plans/goals.
Job Responsibilities
• Manage and mitigate risk for the business unit - Manage remediation progress of identified control gaps and business risk issues entered into the Enterprise Risk and Issues Management (ERIS) - Understand and mitigate risks (e.g., operational, contractual, etc.) associated with business activities and product/service offerings - Establish and manage internal controls (measures) and quality assurance - Manage Risk and Control Self Assessments (RCSAs) - Manage and participate in the design, implement, and maintenance of controls - Responsible for tracking and enabling the remediation of issues ensuring remediation is completed and escalation occurs when appropriate. - Coordinate with Corporate Compliance for the identification of obligations and incorporation into the Risk and Control process for the area. - Coordinate with Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) to identify, track, and report risk - Ensure activities within the groups do not conflict with corresponding regulations - Analyze and report on established metrics related to the control environment - Responsible for analysis of complaint data, identifying trends and working with Business Areas to remediate root cause issues. - Ensure Business Area procedures and work instructions align with company polices and compliance with regulations.
Scope of Job
May manage staff within the functional unit or potentially across multiple geographic locations. Mitigates risk exposure to company by identifying activity that poses potential for significant reputations injury. May work on highly complex issues and high profile clients with a high breadth of responsibility when dealing with business programs and processes. Supports the overall strategy of the Network and Security Solutions Risk and Controls organization, is accountable for the successful development of the NSS RC, and the management of the daily operations of the NSS RC. Supports the control programs addressing complex problems and critical issues. May manage staff within the functional unit or potentially across multiple geographic locations. Mitigates risk exposure to company by identifying activity that poses potential for significant reputational and/or regulatory injury. May work on highly complex issues and high profile clients with a high breadth of responsibility when dealing with business programs and processes.
Autonomy
Responsible for escalating critical issues to senior management. Operates within established policies and procedures and needs to refer only complex issues to management. May supervise multiple managers, professional staff, and administrative staff within the functional unit and potentially across multiple geographic locations.
Job Requirements
• Years of Experience and/or Education or Equivalent Military Experience - 7-8 years of progressive experience in risk and control related positions, internal audit departments, financial controls group, payment services, or regulatory agency or law firm involving payment services compliance issues. - Undergraduate degree required (Business, Finance, Accounting, Risk Management or Regulatory Compliance). - Certified Project Management (CPM) or similar certification, preferred, but not required. - Graduate degree a plus. - Experience with the Enterprise Risk & Issue Management (ERIS) application preferred. - Experience with Risk and Control Self-Assessment (RCSA) frameworks – risk identification and control design preferred. - Experience executing control audits (preferably within the financial services industry), conducting walkthroughs and risk assessments, and testing transactional controls. - Ability to understand processes and conduct root cause analysis. - Working knowledge of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA), Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) and Regulation E is preferred. - Proficient in the use of Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Visio and Project.
