POSITION SUMMARY:
As a member of the Employee Engagement & Communications team, the individual in this position will develop clear, compelling, and visually engaging communications to help inform and educate employees on TIAA programs and initiatives.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
-Develop compelling graphics, infographics, icons, and visuals that reflect and
extend the TIAA Brand, and engage employees in communications and
messages
-Program email content and manage distribution lists in Poppulo HTML system
to visually present information and ensure accurate delivery
-Provide intranet publishing support and graphics, as needed
-Update and maintain digital kiosks to communicate local events; ensure
visuals are brand compliant and contain clear messages and calls to action
-Faciliates daily communication meetings to ensure content is appropriately
captured, managed, distributed and posted
-Assist with large-scale initiatives and programs as needed
Impact:
NATURE OF IMPACT –
This role is one of two critical positions on the Employee Communications & Engagement team which manage and control delivery of business information on an enterprise-wide basis. This individual must be attentive to all details to ensure that content reflects high quality and is error-free and delivered to the appropriate audience in a timely and effective way.
AREA OF IMPACT-
The work performed by this individual is seen by every employee in the company. He or she must be a team player and interact well with all members of the team. Additionally, the candidate must interact with others across the business in communications, IT, A/V and, at times, with business leaders and employees directly.
Problem Solving:
Must be able to assess a situation, develop a solution and recognize when to flag an issue to the manager or client. Problems this individual may encounter could relate to technology issues of our own systems (SharePoint intranet or Poppulo) or a scheduling conflict, or other barrier to issuing a timely communication. Analytical skills are required. This individual must be able to access and analyze data and metrics so we can continue to understand the impact our communications are having on the organization and where we can improve.
Functional Knowledge:
Basic communications skills, including writing and editing are a must. Use of various technologies and the ability to adapt to and learn new and evolving systems are also critical. Knowledge of graphics software and solutions is also a must for this role.
Business or Industry Expertise:
No direct or immediate industry knowledge is required, but the individual should be both interested and curious to learn about our business so he or she can make informed decisions that affect our communications and delivery methods.
Interactions/Interpersonal Skills:
This individual must possess strong interpersonal skills. He or she will be working with employees at all levels, including from time to time, members of the Executive Committee. Must show enthusiasm and interest and be able to engage in dialogue and information exchange that will result in high performance communications.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum:
-BA in Graphic Design, Marketing, or related field
-3 plus years of experience in communications role with heavy emphasis on
graphic design and writing.
-Computer proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel
Preferred:
-Expertise in Flash
-Must be organized and proactive, with strong attention to detail
-Can probe to understand communication needs and objectives; able to take a
consultative approach
-Collaborative player comfortable operating in an integrated communications
team
-High degree of flexibility; ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven
environment; ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously; attuned to
time-sensitive situations and high-impact issues
-Must treat confidential or sensitive material appropriately
-Experience with Adobe Suite, Sharepoint and Poppulo a plus
