Job Summary
The Diversity & Inclusion (D&I) Director directs, develops, implements and monitors large and sustainable diversity programs that promote Diversity and Inclusion (D&I) across CNA. This role is responsible for developing training and targeted programming in order to create and foster an open and inclusive environment. In addition, this role is expected to inspire and motivate others to create positive change, and work with cross functional teams and leaders at levels of the organization.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Performs a combination of duties in accordance with departmental guidelines:
1. Serves as an advisor to the Chief Diversity Officer (CDO), to help build a shared vision of the ways we plan to grow as a Company around issues of D&I that will nurture relationships throughout CNA to ensure understanding and support of this vision
2. Provides strategic advice and counsel to people managers on diversity-related topics and opportunities as we look to drive a culture of inclusion throughout the organization; influences the organizational objectives of D&I efforts.
3. Provide consultation to functional leaders in developing and integrating diversity goals and strategies into all business and planning processes and practices; communicates plans to meet established goals. Influences colleagues in other areas on diversity issues.
4. Partners with the HR analytics team in developing metrics and applicable reports that create transparency and accountability around our D&I efforts
5. Develops and drives CNA’s educational roadmap on diversity and inclusion issues.
6. Has an understanding of the financial/industry sector in which CNA operates. Monitors internal and external workforce trends including legal developments impacting policy and the recruitment and retention of talent. Understands how diversity and inclusion efforts integrate with multiple business areas to achieve functional goals. Recommend strategies to improve our standing as a top employer.
7. In conjunction with the CDO, develops and manages the D&I budget and ensure expenditures are within established parameters, emphasizing cost efficiencies. Is responsible for developing operational plans, standards, and priorities for the area managed. Secures necessary resources to achieve objectives and allocated resources to optimize budget.
8. In partnership with the CDO, represents the Company and serve as subject matter expert on diversity-related issues at external conferences, professional associations, and business meetings.
9. Analyze and assist corporate communications in the compilation of responses for internal and external publications, i.e. Inside CNA articles, social media campaigns, etc.
10. May have managerial responsibilities for a small team of direct reports.
May perform additional duties as assigned.

Skills, Knowledge & Abilities
1. In-depth understanding of D&I concepts and principles and how it relates to other disciplines across the HR and the business. Is passionate about issues of equity and inclusivity.
2. Ability to inspire and motivate others to create positive change.
3. Strong experience working with cross functional teams and leaders, with a solid ability to influence.
4. Strong awareness of current trends and literature regarding diversity work.
5. Understands organizational dynamics and is proficient at planning and organizing enterprise wide events.
6. Solid experience developing and implementing targeted D&I programing for pipeline and high potential diverse talent.
7. Requires strong communication and diplomacy skills to guide, influence and convince others, particularly colleagues in other business areas on diversity & inclusions programs and issues. Excellent written and verbal communications skills in order to analyze and to assist corporate communications in the compilation of responses for internal and external publications
8. Possess strong core competencies in Communication, Leadership and Navigation, Relationship Management, and Influence Management
Education & Experience
1. Bachelor's degree required, with a Master’s preferred, in a related discipline, or equivalent
2. Typically a minimum of ten years of related work experience, with at least 3 years of management experience leading and facilitating diversity and inclusion initiatives with a demonstrated return on investment.
